Title: 23 Nov 2010: it's... 1975
Post by: RGMike on November 22, 2010, 08:34:38 PM
AL wants "well-rounded" suggestions.

And hooray for the guy on FB who suggested we all limit ourselves to 2 or 3 requests, because these people who post 27-song playlists are being kinda ridiculous.  (To which I would add: especially when all 27 requests are katrinas!)

yeah -- she disappeared very quickly and was never mentioned again. If it happened today she'd have her own reality show.

"What you probably don't realize that we have a lot of old men farts on this board, and that music is all they have..."

sorry, couldn't resist!  :)

hee hee.

Do I hear the warmth of vinyl? Painfully slow build to some Floyd -- speaking of old farts. Tho' this is probably a bustout, so I won't complain.

Teddy Pendergrass' voice is so awesome that we (almost) can overlook these lyrics:

"I'm talkin' about the dope pusher
Stop pushin' that dope
Dope users
Stop usin' the dope"

see, I told you it was a symbiotic relationship

"You preachers
Start preachin' what you teach"

huh?

true... hehheh, I didn't notice that Gaz called out those lyrics, too:

maybe Teddy needed a copy editor..?  Ho Ho Ho!

We've now had sax solos on three different instruments: alto in Dr. Wu, baritone and tenor in Shine On...so great!

I love "Fox on the Run" but it's becoming a bit of an AL-trina.  She lurves her some Sweet.

But any woman with the ability to make people "come" just by screaming -- I mean, that's dangerous.

"Fox on the Run" would get a giant BOS in most sets, but it only gets a VHM today.  It just keeps getting better.

OMFG, Parliament's "If It Don't Fit (Don't Force It)".  Awesome!  I don't think I've heard this before, but it's unbelievable.

Funky horn twin-spin!  Always dig "Cut the Cake".

she sure does.  That Parliaments' song was great.

I really like the music groove of Cut The Cake, but the vocals are off-putting for some reason, esp the way he says "cream".

Isn't this the tune Stevie Wonder gave Beck as a makeup for taking Superstition for himself (SW) after promising it to Beck?  For extra bonus frink points, I wonder how many times I've already typed that here?
