we may get the orig of "I Want Candy"...
meanwhile, instant BOS Animals covering Nina Simone.
and it's an Animalistic twin-spin!
-
If we hear this Jeannie-locked-in-the-safe clip again I'll go postal.
"You're gonna lose that girl" -- cute. another twin-spin here, I'm guessing.
BOS Help! clip; ditto "Hide Your Luv", luv.
-
Hilarious! BOS for the Beaties! Don't think I've heard "You're Going to Lose That Girl" on the radio before.

You catch-a on quick, Einstein. BOS for Help!
-
OMFG! uber-BOS "Flowers on the wall"!! Statler Bros rule!
-
Obligatory BOSes to the Beatles (yay) ... but special BOS to the Statlers and their deck of 51. I love how sharp the lead vocal is.
-
I know I've heard this yokely country thing before. based on what we've heard so far being so well-worn I'll give this a BOSFRA. Another banjo tune to add to our Banjo Song List, wherever that is.

Not to mention a whole kazoo ensemble.
Better than the Clapton version, anyway.

"and my feet are not accustomed
to this hard concrete"
brilliant songcraft, of the kind that was de rigeur in Nashville at the time.

Peter Paul & Mary, i'm guessing.

I was referring to what turns out to be the Statler Bros, not the SF Bay thingie. Actually, I didn't like that one too much.
but BOS to Marianne Faithfull.
-
proxy of geoff and BOS6 Beau Brummels -- a Katrina by now but I never tire of this one.
and here's the We Five -- methinks this is a geoff-requested twin-spin!
-
ah yes! this one is the BOS. I know I've heard this one many times, but had to google to find out it's We Five - You Were On My Mind.
Such jangly pop, mostly in a major chord: what's not there to make you feel good?
:)

-
BOS7 that spoon that spoon that (Lovin') Spoonful.
Only 5cc though. Lovin' Tablespoonful is a totally different band.
-
Hilarious! BOS for the Beaties! Don't think I've heard "You're Going to Lose That Girl" on the radio before.
Yes!! Woo Hoo!! Great song, great set!!!!
-
Dick York is a TV Husband only, y'alls.
if that's meant as a gay reference, it was Dick Sargent (2nd Darrin) who was a big ol' 'mo.
-
Holy crap! uber-duber BOS8 Beach Boys - an ATBB worth waiting for.
and we're in Twin-Spin City!
-
It's been a while since I've heard full 10@10 -- just too busy at work -- but what a great year. BOS Beatles x2, Loving Spoonful, Beach Boys x2 ...
-
Dick York is a TV Husband only, y'alls.

no kidding? well, cut off my legs and call me Shorty!
PS: I edited the orig posting...

I gotta say Dick Sargent is a great name. "And this here is our Dick Sargent. I'm sure you're familiar with his duties..."
ETA: And his name was originally Dick Cox!
-
"Open the door for your .. mystery date" kinda suggestive, no?
great set, esp in second half!!
-
Wow, and the twin-spins just keep on coming! I'll give an HM for Sonny and Cher covering the Byrds covering Bob.
-
Oh. My. GAWD!!! Sonny!!! one of my requests --his shining solo moment. Son of a GUN! BOS9.
and AL plays my suggested segue -- into Cher (with Sonny) covering Dylan. BOS10 (!) I'm gobsmacked. And I get a shout-out besides.

So that's what, at least four songs directly attributable to our little kaffeeklatsch? AL must love having us around, it makes her job so much easier! :D
-
Mike gets an AL shoutout -- thanks for that request Mike!

Speaking of jangly '60s pop, Roger McGuinn, of The Byrds, is performing at the brand new arts center in Pleasanton on Sunday, Nov 28, 7:30pm; it only holds 225, so an intimate show. I've got my tix! If any of you City-cats are going, I can pick you up at Pleasanton BART and return you there after the show. Mo' info: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/eve/2045718773.html

Whoa!! Fifteen songs--that's by far the greatest number of songs in a set I've ever heard of. I think 13 was the max up to this point.
-
staying up past my bedtime for the replay. Definitely worth it. I got two of my suggestions in, kind of ironic now that I can't experience it in real time.
-

and it was still shorter than one of Dave's prog-heavy '70s sets from back in the day.

I seem to remember AL doing one in the past year or so that exceeded 50 minutes easily. And Dave's Xmas Card sets always were pretty close to an hour, iirc. Not sure if the ones you speak of topped that or not.

"Open the door for your .. mystery date" kinda suggestive, no?
I noticed this on the replay. It's like she had her mystery orgasm before the date even started!
