AL sez "late '70s thru '90s" which covers a lotta ground. (maybe this will be another 2-parter?)
I decided to be a "Bottum" feeder: seconding sundaygal's request for "We Care a Lot" and adding Imperial Teen's "You're One" (which was on my '96 list). And I also requested Rancid's "Time Bomb" from '95 (15 years ago? Jeezus H Kee-ryst).
-
I'm sure somebody on FB will request "Meet Virginia". Or better yet, "Walkin' On The Sun".
Whatever, just as long as "We Built This City" isn't played.
-

indeed, we've already got suggestions for Counting Crows and MC Hammer...

Well, as a famous man (whom Mojo Nixon said must die) once said: "We get the government we deserve".

You might want to hear a rarity, but that's imposs.
-
It's not impossible -- it's a Moreytrina. VHM Translator.
and another non-rarity: I might like "NSN" better if I hadn't heard it a million times
fat chicks rule!

This set's in jeopardy, all right.

"I Lost On Jeopardy"... most obvious Weird Al song ever?

I'm thinking Greg Kihn has been a DJ now for longer than he was a rock star. Kinda scary.

I think they're all pretty obvious. Which is part of their charm.

I don't know... did you see "It's All About The Pentiums" or "White & Nerdy" or "The Saga Begins" from a mile away?

BOS2 En Vogue -- making their 2nd appearance with this one, but a nice surprise nonetheless.
"ah gives to the needy -- but not the greedy!"
-
BOS to En Vogue - artist breakout? BOP!
Actually, this popped up in a 1992 set. But this is probably only its second appearance.
EDIT: Coke to RGMike

I was there!
Hey, we got a real rarity here. I don't know who or what this ska dealibobber is!
ETA: Apparently it's the Uptones. Don't know 'em!
-
I'm pretty sure The Humpty Dance has been played before, although it's been awhile. Welcome nonetheless.
Lufaphs is a semi-acronym for Lufa Provincial High School, where I taught in Papua New Guinea many years back. Nothing to do with Bill O'Reilly.

Cool!

Whoa, and who are these female Sex Pistols doing "We Are the One"???
Google knows nothing about those lyrics.

per the shraytabase, no, and I remember complaining that Dave always played "Sex packets" but ignored "HD"
OK, I have no clue on these last 2 tunes.
-
uber-BOS4 Jello & Co!

I can see why AL was so excited about this set. It just goes totally off the grid after the first half -- true to form.
-
Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy did a better "California Uber Alles."
-
uber-BOS4 Jello & Co!
California Uber Alles - DK!!!!! (sorry can't figure out how to add an unlaut - hehe)

Aaack, who was song 9? I missed it.

The Avengers -- totally NTM.

You may be (well, I suppose you are) right... I knew that the Digital Underground had been played.

I'm curious as to why AL does this.... is it to draw in the casual listener, then surprise them in the end? I suppose if she did it the other way around the masses would tune out at about the second song. But that's just a hunch.

I think AL mentioned that she was going on vacation next week. :(

oh, that's def it -- old radio trickery. Works out in the end, of course, but I'm still too Katrina-sensitive.
-
BOS to Pearl Harbor and the DKs -- nice 80s sounds there. Avengers was NTM.
Agree on the ho-hum factor of Translator, Hugey Lewis, Romeo Void (although I met her once by chance, so HM).
Speaking of Ho Hum(pty)> Humpty Dance and Never Gonna Get It -- absolute rarities on a station like KFOG. Nice to hear here, I suppose, but ultimately I'm like whatevs.
I think Jello's made a mistake w the Dan White statue thing the reporter mentioned. Who wanted to see his face around, even in stone? Of course, Jello stood for way more than just gimmicky stunts, but local MSM grabs onto those things. oh well... Wasn't it soon after his mayoral candidacy -- or maybe even during? -- that a law was passed requiring candidates use their real names when running?
I liked the 70s sets better.

Brings back memories of my old shop on Folsom St, when we shared the space with Stars Guitars. Many of these bands came in either for repairs or just kicking back during rehearsals next door at Studio Instrument Rentals. Michael Been, Deborah Iyall, the guys from Translator, Mario Cipollina from HL&TN.
