I can see why AL was so excited about this set.  It just goes totally off the grid after the first half -- true to form.

I'm curious as to why AL does this.... is it to draw in the casual listener, then surprise them in the end? I suppose if she did it the other way around the masses would tune out at about the second song. But that's just a hunch.

oh, that's def it -- old radio trickery.  Works out in the end, of course, but I'm still too Katrina-sensitive.

BOS to Pearl Harbor and the DKs -- nice 80s sounds there.  Avengers was NTM.

Agree on the ho-hum factor of Translator, Hugey Lewis, Romeo Void (although I met her once by chance, so HM).

Speaking of Ho Hum(pty)> Humpty Dance and Never Gonna Get It -- absolute rarities on a station like KFOG.  Nice to hear here, I suppose, but ultimately I'm like whatevs.

I think Jello's made a mistake w the Dan White statue thing the reporter mentioned. Who wanted to see his face around, even in stone?   Of course, Jello stood for way more than just gimmicky stunts, but local MSM grabs onto those things.  oh well... Wasn't it soon after his mayoral candidacy -- or maybe even during? -- that a law was passed requiring candidates use their real names when running?

I liked the 70s sets better.

Brings back memories of my old shop on Folsom St, when we shared the space with Stars Guitars.  Many of these bands came in either for repairs or just kicking back during rehearsals next door at Studio Instrument Rentals.  Michael Been, Deborah Iyall, the guys from Translator, Mario Cipollina from HL&TN.
