Hump Day is '60s Day again. Something tells me Sly's "Hot Fun" will make a rather obvious weather-related appearance.
ETA: I opted for Neil D singing about a hot August nite; here's hoping.

instant BOS Nazz!

instant BOS Nazz!
Whoa, NTM. I don't think I've heard any song by Nazz except for "Open My Eyes". I didn't know there was a pre-solo-Todd version of this. Niiiiice!
-
I really prefer Todd's solo take on Hello, It's Me. This drags too much.

indeed, I think I prefer it to the poppier solo version. But The Isley Bros take remains my fave.

Rock on Canada! BOS Guess Who.

Sounds like it was recorded with the Beach Boys in mind. Unquestionable BOS--can't wait to hear what she has to top this.
-
Rock on Canada! BOS Guess Who.
speaking of languid, "white" orig versions of songs later covered soulfully (Jr Walker's version of "These Eyes" is another fave).
-
Hahahahahaha! BOS for MP's Killer Joke into Robin (?) starting a joke with his bros.
-
OMG!! BOS2, BeeGees, I Started A Joke. Did Dave ever play this?
-
VHM Python, "funniest joke" skit, but AL really shoulda played "Laughing" instead of "These Eyes". But BOS2 "I Started A Joke".
-

amazingly, no -- not even in the all-BeeGees set.

Does anybody remember laughter?
-
BOS3 and proxy of Gaz, Turtles, "You Showed me", one of my requests -- didn't realize how well it would fit AL's "mellow" vibe today.

I'll have to request the Lightning Seeds' version of this the next time 1997 rolls around.
-
speak Jr Walker's name and he shall appear! BOS4 "WDIT(TWYL)", one of my favorite Motown hits of all time. Gonna blow fo' ya!
-

Excellent choice Mike--a strong overall BOS contender.

the first Austin Powers sndtk is chock full o' goodness, that being one example.

"it's more than a camera, it's almost alive..."
er, what?
and as predicted, "Hot Fun..." Can't really complain, this has been fab so far. As long as we avoid the multiple requests for "Na Na Hey Hey"...
-
BOS5 Sir Doug's fab Farfisa.

I never liked this one. Both Doug's voice and the organ grate on my for some reason.
-
BOS6 Johnny & Bob -- and thank you AL for avoiding the way-overexposed "Lay Lady Lay" in favor of "Girl From the North Country"
-
What did they do to Bob's voice to make him sound like that? There's something about this era of Bob that's just odd. "Lay Lady Lay" has got it too. Maybe some reverb where there was none before?

BOS and ntm.
Bob was fun last night at the Fox, though, seriously, I couldn't understand a single word he sang. Hard to believe someone with as little voice as he had could lose it so completely. Still, well worth it.
-
Holy Toledo, is this Fleetwood Mac doing "I Shall Be Released"?

it's his "crooner" voice. I'm always amazed when people think it's odd. It's just a different shade of Bob.
OMFG! Christine Perfect & Co, "I'd Rather Go Blind" uber-BOS7 and proxy of Geoff, I'm sure.
ETA: Ms Perfect followed by the band she'd later join. Oh, well...

Whoa! I was just listening the Faces' version of this last week, but I've never heard this version. I thought FMac at first too, but realized she wasn't in the band in '69.
Oh Well....
ETA: Per AMG, I'd Rather Go Blind was credited to Chicken Shack.

Whoa, what happened to the end of that morphing into "Oh Well"? Oh well. I love this one anyway.
ETA: I think this counts as a trifecta "Oh Well" jinx! Right arm!

a lyric that could be about Mr Dylan: "I can't sing, I ain't pretty and my legs are thin..."

Yawn - somebody wake me up when this instrumental is over.

Hee. I'll admit it does... go on. Somebody saw a lot of Spaghetti Westerns before they wrote this one.

AL was Hypmatized. (She shoulda been, anyway).

great set, I was biking to work during most of it, but soooo many BOSes -- I think Mike covered them all ... you can usually trust Mike.
I'm going to record/archive this one!

Compared to her usual sets, which tend to include a couple of loud rockers, this was fairly mellow. I think the idea was that the weather made it too hot to rock.

I am delighted that others remember this. I'm overdue in getting a LS comp - I adore "Pure," "Lucky You" and "Life of Riley" with almost equal gusto.

Haha, I was right there with you. A wealth of riches in this set; BOSFRA to "I'd Rather Go Blind," which I likewise initially mistook for "I Shall Be Released." Co-BOS otherwise to the Turtles (thanks, Mike) and Jr. Walker's tamborrific minimalism (no chorus and a mere two verses between those instro interludes).
