Title: 18 Feb 2010: it's.... 1983
Post by: RGMike on February 17, 2010, 08:45:44 PM
It's Yoko's 77th birthday. My wish was for a 1981 set that includes "Walking on Thin Ice", which would be an ATBB for the ages.

Missed it by... THAT much!

you say Grenayda, I say Grenahda.

It's a New Wave-centric set all right -- BOS3 and proxy of shray, TFF.

can Red Rockers' "China" be far behind?

Perhaps you'd prefer some Rush?

I agree, tho' -- some MJ that's not "Billie Jean" or "Beat it" would go down nicely --"Say Say Say", perhaps.

Per the Shraytabase, New Order is listed with only one song (True Faith, in '87) and Echo & the Bunnymen don't appear at all. I am aghast.

BOS2 REM.

I am too, but again, it hasn't been updated since AL's ascendence to the throne; she played "Lips Like Sugar" iirc.

Marshall Crenshaw played the Hardly Strictly this past fall (his set preceded Robyn Hitchcock, and then we got Billy Bragg!)

BOS to him just b/c that was such a lovely day -- not a bad song either.

Big BOS5 from me -- this LP was one of my faves of that genre and they deserved to be bigger -- "Fascist Groove Thing", anyone?  This seems to be some sort of club remix.

WOS2 AdamAnt -- really, my least-fave of his tunes and tho' this was a Moreytrina, we still have never heard the fantabulous "Antmusic" on 10@10. Go figure.

;D

BOS1 New Order
BOS2 Echo & the Bunnymen
BOS3 (Uber-BOS) Tears for Fears
BOS4 (Uber-BOS2) Missing Persons
BOS5 Heaven 17

Not generally a fan of the Styx song, but it fit in pretty well in this set...REM didn't IMO.
