It's Yoko's 77th birthday. My wish was for a 1981 set that includes "Walking on Thin Ice", which would be an ATBB for the ages.
Missed it by... THAT much!

If only....but no. Instead we get 1983.

"The lake was as big as the ocean ..."
-
BOS1 New Order.
-
BOS to Echo and the Bunnymen
-
A big ol' dose of new wave to kick us off. BOS1 Echo & the Bunnymen.
-
BOS to Echo and the Bunnymen
NTM; I was guessing the Cure.
-
BOS2 E&tB. Proxy of my friend Mark in NY whose email addr is "echobmen@..."

E&TB are the cure for a lot of things that ail you. hey-ooo!
-
you say Grenayda, I say Grenahda.
It's a New Wave-centric set all right -- BOS3 and proxy of shray, TFF.
can Red Rockers' "China" be far behind?
-
HM "Pale Shelter," but I'm drowning in this New Wave.
-
I never get tired of Pale Shelter, BOS2
-
HM "Pale Shelter," but I'm drowning in this New Wave.
Perhaps you'd prefer some Rush?
I agree, tho' -- some MJ that's not "Billie Jean" or "Beat it" would go down nicely --"Say Say Say", perhaps.
-
Per the Shraytabase, New Order is listed with only one song (True Faith, in '87) and Echo & the Bunnymen don't appear at all. I am aghast.
BOS2 REM.
-
More NW: an ATBB (?) from REM.
-

I am too, but again, it hasn't been updated since AL's ascendence to the throne; she played "Lips Like Sugar" iirc.
-

Seems to be. Not in the Shraytabase.
-
BOS4 Mr Crenshaw at his peak.
-
BOS Marshall Crenshaw, hitting the spot today.
-
Marshall Crenshaw played the Hardly Strictly this past fall (his set preceded Robyn Hitchcock, and then we got Billy Bragg!)
BOS to him just b/c that was such a lovely day -- not a bad song either.
-
VHM Tom Cruise when he was sane.
New Wave overkill! Nobody walks on 10@10.
-
oh yeah, Missing Persons! 'nother BOS
melding hard rock guitars and new wave-y weirdness, just like the Cars did five years before.
ETA: too bad Dale is mean to cats:

-
VHM Heaven 17's "Let Me Go," which I haven't heard in at least 5 years.
-
and the new waves just keep on coming!
It's a veritable Mavericks out here!
can't place this band, though I "know" the song

Big BOS5 from me -- this LP was one of my faves of that genre and they deserved to be bigger -- "Fascist Groove Thing", anyone? This seems to be some sort of club remix.
-
Ohhhh nooooooo!!!!! Say it's not so!
ETA: But it is. AL serves up a big helping of cheeze.
-
AAAACK! Styx's "modrin" pseudo-New Wavery gets an obvious WOS. Kil-roy! KEEEL-roy!
(guaranteed BOS from the Fogheads)
-
do we really need The Mondrian Man?

do we really need The Mondrian Man?
classic example of the "hey, my kid could do that!"/ why-didn't-I-think-of-it-first school of art.
-
YES! Finally, a BOS I can enthuse about: Adam Ant (and the press men, with their pen knives - cute line, that).
-
WOS2 AdamAnt -- really, my least-fave of his tunes and tho' this was a Moreytrina, we still have never heard the fantabulous "Antmusic" on 10@10. Go figure.

One of my very favorite artists - not because I think Mondrian was a genius but because I love multicolor geometric patterns.

But who doesn't?
-
VHM to Adam Ant, although this is the only song of his that we've heard on 10@10.
-
i'm liking this set. Anyone want a copy? I'm recording
another BOS to Joan

What do you want to bet it gets the popular BOS vote?
-
BOS6 Ms Armatrading, rescuing us. I love it when she does just about anything.

BOS3 (Uber-BOS) Tears for Fears

BOS5 Heaven 17
Not generally a fan of the Styx song, but it fit in pretty well in this set...REM didn't IMO.
