Title: 12 February 2010: Valentine's Day
Post by: urth on February 11, 2010, 09:40:46 AM
Haven't heard any on-air promos for it, but there's a slide on the KFOG website door that's promoting it.

well, I was just gonna ask!  Wonder if it'll be "Love Songs", "Love Stinks" or some combo of the 2?

I assume since she's not soliciting suggestions that she has a specific idea of where she wants the set to go. Given her level of success up to this point, I'm all for it. Fogheads would only screw it up.

From the e-mail:

Valentine's Day 10@10
Valentine's Day falls on Sunday - hint, hint, fellas - so Annalisa's got a special "Sweet & Sour" 10@10 lined up for Friday to get you in the loving - or not so loving - mood. Hear the sappy love songs alternating with bitter breakup tunes, Friday at 10am and 10pm.

Yay!  That means we get "Love Stinks" and maybe even Nilsson's "You're Breakin' My Heart". As to the loveydovey stuff -- I predict Etta James' "At Last" and (unfortunately) Jazn Mrazzzzzzzzz...

Buzzcocks, with the original of a song that was arguably made more famous by Fine Young Cannibals.

BOS from me.

"Love Will Tear Up Apart" should have come after "Love Will Keep Us Together" instead of "Happy Together."

right on for Joy Division, even though this is the ONLY song you ever hear from them (well, on KFOG, anyway, which is understandable).

they only did two albums, though, methinks.

Davefish gets the prize: it's the Monks. The clip was Liz & Dick from Virginia Woolf.

That'd work, but I was hoping to hear something a little less well-circulated.

Was that last piece (I Hate You?) the Monks? No clue here.

Agreed, but AL has played the Monks at least twice before, so the extreme degree of novelty is starting to wear off. (That doesn't mean I want her to abandon them and move on to something even more arcane.)

Just read thru the Regional 10@10 thread, and I'm surprised that none of the other 10@10 franchises paid any tribute to Valentine's Day today. Particularly The Sound (which did '72), fond as they are of theme sets down there.

I'm guessing the Sunday date gave them pause: do we do it Friday? or Monday?   iirc, the same thing happened when H'ween was on Saturday -- Bob did good "scary" sets the last few years but bypassed it this time around.

Now, do we get a Mardi Gras set on Tuesday?
