If it's songs *by* kids, I hope we get Jordy's "D'ur D'ur Etre Un Bebe."

or "Peppermint Lump", that Pete Townsend-produced thing.
BOS Broooooooooce and Santa

And AL takes the opportunity to drop her first holiday reference of the year (and her whole 10@10 tenure) with Springsteen's take on Santa Claus is Comin' To Town.

I'd vote for the Mill Valley song by Miss Whats-her-name's class. And vote strongy AGAINST Playground In My Mind.

Wow, here's an
artist and song bustout if there ever was one: Satchmo, Is That You, Santa Claus?
ETA: Scratch the artist bustout--I forgot about What a Wonderful World.

Only version of this I know is Buster Poindexter.
I'm really not in the mood for Christmas songs today, though.
-
You'll shoot your eye out, kid.

Gotta try to remember to tape this tonight. Great stuff!
-
TANC: Just heard this version of Mr. Heat Miser yesterday on SOMA-FM's Xmas in Frisko channel.
-

heard an amusing parody of Bruce's "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" on Xmas in Frisko / Soma FM yesterday -- it's by Kevin and Bean called "Christmas Blues (Are Getting Me Down)"
-
so does this preclude a "10@10 Xmas card"? Or maybe AL is just so jolly she'll do multiple holiday sets.
I posted the "South Park" version of "Dreidel" on FB today; would love to hear that.
Rudolph! BOS2 Burl Ives!

yes! that's quite hilarious.
-
Gotta turn thumbs down on this retread of Holly Jolly Christmas. Sorry, Burl, but the only one that registers with me is the one that originally aired on Rudolf.
-
BOS Burl Ives and his Christmas pirate impression!
"Kiss 'errrrrrrrrrr once for me!"

Hermey: Hey, what do you say we both be independent together, huh?
Rudolph: You wouldn't mind my - red nose?
Hermey: Not if you don't mind me being a dentist.
Rudolph: It's a deal.
-
VHM Chris Isaak -- it's not his nose that's "shiny & red".
-
"10 at 10 For Tots?"
Not sure what this means either, but I don't have high hopes for this set...
And if song #1 is any indication...I've traditionally not been a fan of Bruce but in recent years I've come to appreciate quite a few songs by him (Tunnel of Love, Dancing in the Dark, Streets of Philadelphia, Human Touch, Radio Nowhere, Girls in their Summer Clothes.) Santa Claus is Coming to town is NOT one of them. WOS

well, his record company had to milk it somehow...

I'm guessing this is primarily tied to the Concert for Kids promo tomorrow, which I am guessing is stiffing at the box office, as they are still flogging the hell out of it a day before showtime. Didn't they usually sell out well in advance in past years (assuming they booked someone of some reknown, i.e. the Pretenders)?
-
remember this classic alt take of Rudolph??
Rudolph the red nosed reindeer "reindeer"
Had a very shiny nose "like a light bulb"
And if you ever saw it "saw it"
You would even say it glowed "like a light bulb"
All of the other reindeer "reindeer"
Used to laugh and call him names "like Pinocchio!"
They never let poor Rudolph "Rudolph"
Join in any reindeer games "like Monoploy"
Then one foggy Christmas eve
Santa came to say "HO! HO! HO!"
"Rudolph, with your nose so bright,
Won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"
Then how the reindeer loved him "loved him"
And they shouted out with glee "like toothpaste"
"Rudolph the red nosed reindeer "reindeer"
You'll go down in history" "like Columbus!"
-
WOS "Run Run Rudolph." At least it's not "Reggae Christmas."
-
BOS to Dave Edmunds' take on Run Rudolph Run, spinnin' like a sabre jet.
Considering who wrote this song, hearing lyrics about a doll that can "eat, sleep, drink and wet" is kind of creepy.
-
I think this is KT Tunstall.

was that Edmunds version or Keith Richards? I was only half-listening.

We did that, except "football" instead of "Monopoly," and "Whoopie!" instead of "like toothpaste" (though I like yours better).

So who's doing the retake on Sleigh Ride?
-
WOS "Run Run Rudolph." At least it's not "Reggae Christmas."
Bwahahaha! But have ya heard... "Reggae Xmas Eve in Transylvania" by Count Floyd?

dunno, but I like it. Sexy voice.

Pretty sure it was Edmunds--that sure wasn't Keith singing.
BOS2 to the Misfit song--is this the Misfits doing it?

I think Darryl nailed it--K. T. Tunstall.

BOS Thurl Ravenscroft!!!!!!!
The three words that describe you best are as followws, and I quote, "Stink, STANK, STUNK!"
-
what is it with creepy old guys and Xmas songs? Dr John and Leon's Red Bone.
AL's put a lot of work into collecting clips for this occasion, so kudos for that alone.
-
BOS Thurl Ravenscroft!!!!!!!
You listening on terrestrial radio? If you're talking about Mr. Grinch, you're a couple minutes ahead of the rest of us.
-
BOS Thurl Ravenscroft!!!!!!!
indeed, BOS3 from me. Tho' Mojo Nixon's version is pretty cool too.
ETA: can you imagine trying to get these lyrics past CBS today? Never happen.
-
Y'know, we really had the good fortune to be kids in the golden era of Christmas television specials. I wonder if kids today will have the same reverence for Rudolph and How the Grinch and Charlie Brown Christmas etc?

Not sure about kids nowadays, but I specifically looked forward to watching those every year up until I left for college. (in 01.) Loved Rudolph!!

I hear the kids are really digging Flo Rida's Happy Christmas, Bitches. :)

from Xmas to... Halloween? Zevon, "Werewolves". Hope we get a Hanukka bonus track (and hope it's NOT Adam Sandler).

you mean she corrected herself yesterday? I missed it if she did.
She actually *did* correct herself after today's replay. She said something like "... and although he often gets confused with Boris karloff -- even by those us her at KFOG! -- that was Thurl Ravenscroft with tune number ten, You're a Mean One Mister Grinch."
So kudos on that self-correction. -- I'm still waiting for her correx on "expresso," though ;)

I was impressed that she actually recorded a new close with the correction that they inserted for the replay last nite and today. Something Dave rarely bothered to do (tho' of course he was out the door after 10@10 whereas AL has to stick around).
