"Stayin' Alive" was used in a hokey scene where Dudley Moore thought he was seducing Goldie.

"Ready..." should've won that Oscar.  It perfectly expressed the point of the movie, with money notes.

I thought the point of Foul Play was: don't try to kill the Pope.

'78 was one of the rare years when 3 out of the 5 nominees were actual hit singles that people had heard of: "Ready...", as well as "Hopelessly Devoted to You" and the winner, "Last Dance" -- which was clearly some sort of "make good" award for having ignored disco the year before.

I just Googled Foul Play Soundtrack, and still can't pick which song it would have been. Staying Alive came up as a song in the movie??

You're making Gaz look like a movie genius ;)

I think he means that he's surprised to see "Staying Alive" on the Foul Play soundtrack, not on the SNF soundtrack.  I was surprised too.  And also that the Oscar nom didn't go to "Copacabana" either.

You're right.  Barry really lets loose, esp on that last line ".. with yoooouuuuuuuu!"

I'm only here to please.

if it were Scarlet who was turning tricks, that'd *really* be a treat.

Found it, but forgot that Foley was a brunette in the video (check out how they share the mike in the middle of the clip).  When one went to the Varsity Theater on Delmar Blvd in University City* to see the midnight show of Rocky Horror, the show always started with this video, and then a double video feature of Tim Curry's "I Do The Rock" and "Paradise Garage"

*a suburb in St. Louis county & my hometown of Clayton's neighbor to the north, so named not because that's where Washington University is located but because a whole bunch of the streets are named after all the Ivy League & other major liberal arts colleges from the East Coast.

Are you sure that's Ellen Foley? I'm thinking it's Karla DeVito, who as Mike mentioned, took over the part of the ingenue when Meat took his show on the road.

indeed, I just watched (and posted here somewhere) DeVito's video for her remake of "Midnight Confessions" the other day, and that looks more like her than Foley.  TANC: I just mentioned Robby Benson in the Casey K thread, and Karla DeVito was his girlfriend (and wife?) for quite a while.
