S:JBE is not a bad start, but you're right that it does improve. Orig. aired July 28, if you want to look back and see what's in store.
BOS1 Tull.
-
love this Jethro Tull
-
That "Give Peace a Chance"/"are you listening Nixon?" clip is on its way to AL Sally-dom.
-
God, what a great harp solo. Is Sally the new Katrina?

Sort of. A "sally" is a sound bite that gets overplayed, derived from Sally Field's "You like me! This time, you like me!" Oscars clip that Dave played pretty frequently for a time.
BOS2 Hey Bulldog. Whaddaya say?
-
BOS for Hey Bulldog. I really like that one.
-

a "Sally" is an overplayed news clip, whereas a Katrina is an overplayed song.
Indeed, Mayall's is the harmonica tune of all time, tho' some here can't stand it (Gaz would WOS it if he were on-line).
BOS2 Beatles (yay), "Bulldog" (hey).
-
BOS3 Taj Mahal.
-
BOS3, and a huge bustout at the time: Take A Giant Step.
"There is no percentage in rememberin' the past"--are you sure about that, Taj?
ETA: Add this to the list of non-country banjo tunes.

in '69, hearing him on the radio, I assumed he was some ancient black blues guy -- when he was all of 27!

BOS4 Johnny C & Bobby Z.

gotta give Mickey Mantle an VHM. My father was a big Yankee fan (took my mom to see Maris' 61st) and we had a portrait of Mickey hanging in the den or whatever you call it.
-
BOS4 Johnny C & Bobby Z.
As you said, this set gets a lot better! BOS4 Girl From the North Country.

Another BOS for Cass, and nice synchronicity having Johnny Cash introduce her.
And still one more for Butch and Sundance. "Are you crazy?!? The fall will probably kill ya!!!"

There's a Midget standing tall and a Giant beside him about to fall:
dude, that is one creepy photo. Andre's schlong was probably bigger than the little guy's head.

It's not his fault he's bigger and stronger. He doesn't even exercise.

Gaz & I went to see Richie Unterberger (an AMG critic among other things) do a presentation of rare clips from Woodstock & the Woodstock era, and probably the highlight of the whole show was a medley by Sly & the Family Stone from a Texas Pop Festival that happened only a couple of weeks post Woodstock. The image & sound quality was very poor, but it still blew the room away...particularly how awesome the rest of the Family was. Especially vocalist & trumpeter Cynthia Robinson (hers is the voice screaming out "Everybody dance now!" at the beginning of "Dance to the Music". Dayum!
