A good start with the Pretenders "Message of Love".  They did this (along with most other hits) at the Mountain Winery last Saturday.  A great show.

Wasn't Saga Canadian, too?

I have to give Blubberboy an HM.  Saw them in 82 and they were awesome.

"Turn Me Loose" is worth an OMGWTFLOL.  He's down on his knees, making love to whoever he please.  Hard to be flexible in those red vinyl pants.

However, say what you will, this one is a bustout per the DB. Dave only played Workin' For The Weekend, in both '81 and '82.

I'm gobsmacked to hear that -- sure seems like we've heard it a million times! I guess Bob's played it in his '82 sets quite often.

One Beautiful World is enuf, Mr Sumner.

Which is not a bustout, but only barely. Just one previous play. And I'm gobsmacked about that. Must be Ginger. (Which reminds me: is she still fillin' in afternoons on The Band?)

and those are my two favorite Devo songs, no less.

"One World" is nearly a bustout, having only one appearance more than 5 yrs ago.

Ditto.  I know most people like the Pretenders too, but I can't stand them (except for "Human," which is just on the upper side of tolerable.)  Loverboy is hella cheezy, but to their credit at least they try to be.

BOS to Devo so far.  & Lene Lovich gets an HM.

I will say they aren't pronouncing the car correctly.  If it's Italian, it should be "bar-KET-ta"  (hard "K" sound).

I should clarify: I was referring only to Loverboy as representing the worst of the early 80s. The Pretenders were and are great.

Not digging the Rush too much either, but I bet there's someone here who's liking them even less.

But it's another bustout, in a set that's been full of them.

Good one. ;) BOS for Don taking that ride.

And beyond that, many years ago when I saw Eagles, Don Felder was the surprise winner in the guitar solos competition.  He was good!  And that's against Joe Walsh!

HOLEE SHIT!!!!!

Take a ride-ride-ride-ride on heavy metal.

In the week before Thanksgiving 1979, I rode on a Greyhound bus from Indianapolis to Cincinnati with Don Felder's totally hot younger female cousin.  The Eagles played Cincy the next night, and as I've mentioned here before the infamous Who concert took place two weeks later.

wow, another bustout for a song that's all-but-forgotten... for a reason.

The "South Park" parody of Heavy Metal was hilarious, tho'.

funny how a set with so many bustouts could nonetheless seem so Moreyesque.

Not hard to draw the line from the Eagles to Heavy Metal--this sounds like an outtake from The Long Run. HM just 'cause I haven't heard it in ages, but it's not rocking my world. But tally another one in the bustout column.

And Annalisa is making my dreams come true in 1981.  Unlike the rest of you curmudgeons, I can't WOS anything in this set, as it covers the highlights of my dorm years in college.  Dorm dances for very single one of these songs.

well if you know Chariots of Fire at all, you know that what you heard was the eulogy in the first scene that 'Harold Abrahams' gave for 'Eric Liddell', which means that the actor was Ben Cross, who played 'Sarek' in Star Trek this year.   It's a good thing that the movie involved time travel, as Cross is 16 years younger than his 'son' Nimoy.

Bonus question, What kind of car is a Barchetta?   (hint: it's not Canadian...)

some guy said "It's an italian made car"
which is correct!  Analisa asked him to clarify: "ok, who makes it?"   The dude said "Fiat."
bzzzzzt!

the answer is Ferrrari.

the winner could choose b/w:
Soft Cell Tainted Love
David Lindley Crazy 'Bout a Mercury
but he chose Another Tricky Day by the Who.

you're right.

But, per wikipedia, production started in 90 -- well after Geddy & Co. chimed in.  Still, the first dude should have gotten partial credit, like he could request half a song..  :)

worth noting, I think, that 3 of today's artists were also played in AL's only-other 1981 set in July: Devo, Rush, and Blondie. But two of those (Devo & Rush) provided bustouts today.  AL managed a very Dave-like set while only playing a couple of tunes he's ever actually featured. Quite a feat, IMHO.
