If shed really done '98 today I'd've assumed she's been lurking here.
But we close "Live & Local" month with 2 local acts from each decade, '60s/'70s/'80s/'90s/'00s.
And Sly leads off.
-
Sly and the Fam Stone are Everyday peeps, ya dig?
BOS
-
no clue on song 2."She's my baby"?
"when she leaves me hangin'
I know that I've been hung"
er...
-
Well, here's hoping for some "when they were good" Journey and some TOP for the seventies...
-
I agree on TOP for '70s. Plus either JS or Pablo Cruise. Think Journey'll be '80s, along with Huey Lewis.

Love for nothing! And yer chicks for free!
-
PSYCH-OUT!
The hallucinatory world of the flower children...see the mind blowers in action!
man, if anything would cause you to take heavy drugs, it would be that awesomely cheesy commercial.
-
Boo for the expurgated version of WPOD, but still yay for WPOD.
ETA: Heh, not completely expurgated.

I *love* that Dean Stockwell and Susan Strasberg get top billing over Jack Nicholson and Bruce Dern -- and featuring The Seeds and The Strawberry Alarm Clock!

I heard an F-word in there!

BOS to the groovy Flamin' Groovies! One of my favorite party tracks.
-
BOS2 Flamin' Groovies -- who become AL's 2nd potential Katrina with this appearance. I'm impressed -- I didn't expect either of these '70s choices.
-
yet another BOS vote for the Flaming Groovies. Fun song, dang it!
and to speak to Gaz's remark that it's a great party song, it truly does have a undeniable party sound, but the lyrics are definitely heavier than most par-tay songs. e.g.:
It's taken me so long
To get where I belong
Oh, but, oh, please don't send me back that way, yeah.
For I will make you pay.
def not empty stuff here, self-affirming and strong message.
-
You're all in San Francisco - and I'm not! :-[
-
And here's one of my fave Dave faves. BOS, um, 4, Translator.
-
hah! VHM South Park -- the Broflofskys move to SF so they can sniff their own farts. That's IM-poss!
BOS3 Translator, feeling Dave's touch on their clutch.
-
Deborah might like AL better if they slept together -- too late, Deb!
-
Another BOS, "Never Say Never".
-
Deborah might like AL better if they slept together...
uh...
that's impossible
that's im...
that's impossible
that's im-poss...
that's impossible
that's im-poss-i-ble!
-
and now AL's first "Sally": the read-the-Chronicle-on-your-PC clip.
WOS 4 Non-Talents. Bathroom break!
-
Yay! What up!?! Hit from Hell for most, guilty pleasure for me! :P
-
BOS to the SF Chroncile going online... :)
but don't let that stop from from subscribing!

Enter Metallica.
-
Enter Metallica.
Surprisingly disappointing set on the whole. Would have rather heard Third Eye Blind for the '90s.

Sandman is pretty much a Katrina by now. But this "Room with a View" is NTM.
ETA: Imperial Teen, apparently. Never heard of 'em.

sorry, but I never get tired of Enter Sandman ... although I've never had much success using it as a lullaby. Seems it doesn't really make kinds sleepy.

who are you and what have you done with Gaz?? ;)
Dunno who this is in the '00s -- making it the 2nd WTF? of the day. This set was hardly predictable.

Have I ragged on 3EB in the past? I liked a number of their singles. Would have enjoyed "Jumper" today.

Imperial Teen, according to SongMeanings. This Chuck Prophet song isn't doing it for me.

no, but I didn't expect you to call this set disappointing. I'm usually Mr Crankypants and I was surprised we didn't get Journey or Huey.
Wow, the obscurities were the Mojo Men and Imperial Teen -- hope AL gives us IT's "You're One" in a future set.

I was listening in the car up thru the Translator tune, but had to tune out when we got to the airport (not departing yet, was picking up some arriving family members). Dug the 60s & 70s tunes fo' sho', including the faux pas in WPOD (ssshhhh, you don't wanna get AL in trouble now, do ya?) Wish I'd heard the Imperial Teen tune--really liked their first record. They were a side project of Roddy Bottum (kybd player from Faith No More) and Lynn Perko (drummer from Sister Double Happiness) and a couple of others I'm blanking on. Don't know if they ever got much play outside CA.

If AL had chosen "Eloise" I'd have given Chuck Prophet BOS. Instead I'll give it to the Tubes. WOS Metallica - they are entering Guilty Displeasure territory in my book.

listening to replay on my clock radio: the Sly & Family Stone Everyday People seemed only "half there" like I was hearing just one channel. Is this a mix I'm not used to? For instance, I didn't hear the refrain "There is a yellow one that won't accept the black one.." etc. at all. weird.

I was hearing/thinking the same thing. Either a one-channel or an official alternate mix.
