OMFG: our TOTHK is a HFH -- Bobby McFerrin. Yikes.
-

Bobby Mc Ferrin does say that year to me
Wanna hear Big Audio Dynamite also
-
I'm happy!
-
It's 1988! ;D
ROFL @ Annalisa: "It has been drawn to my attention that there's a particular year that I haven't done yet...not sure how you knew that, but..."
Ofmg, it's Bobby McFerrin!
-
BOS Beetlejuice!
"Roll With It" is not improving things, musically speaking.

Does this song actually make anyone happy?
he sounds so medicated.
-
REM stands up for, er, standing up. VHM.
-
You gotta wonder about "Stand". Was it a response to this challenge: write a dumb song in 5 minutes that starts with "Stand in the place where you live".

OK, so which one of y'all messaged her about that? Or was she lurking among the posts--Mike has mentioned the yet-to-be-visited years a couple times in recent days.
-
Well... isn't that SPECIAL! BOS2 Church Lady.

Lol. I saw him in concert a few years ago and he announced that he specifically does not play that song anymore.
-
BOS3 to a Morey perennial: "Fisherman's Blues" -- tho' iirc he played it in '89 sets, no?
-
Like this one -
Hole Whole of the Moon

BOS Beetlejuice!

that was the movie quote? I was at first thinking either Heathers or Pump Up The Volume, but I think both are later...

I think that was kind of the point. Probably not a small amount of irony in mind when they recorded this, although a lot of people didn't get it.

I assume that's because it became associated with the Bush I election campaign. Or maybe he's just goddamn sick of it.

I was hoping for Harry Belafonte after that

Totally agreed...my long-awaited beloved non-60s or 70s year is not shaping up so well so far :-\
But, HM to the Waterboys!

Can't imagine Bobby was on board with that - I don't recall it in the campaign
-
AL's on my last nerve with the Proclaimers. I need a bustout and I need it NOW.

That's a caveat to young musicians: be sure you really like the songs you are releasing, because you don't know which of them might become exceedingly popular, and could end up paying your bills for the rest of your life. Which means you'll be playing it for the rest of your life.

AL's on my last nerve with the Proclaimers. I need a bustout and I need it NOW.
Here's yer bustout with the Pixies' "Where Is My Mind". Unfortunately (for me), this gets played on RadioParadise almost every day.
-
Any of you guys on Facebook?
-
the first (?) computer virus.
"Where is my mind?" -- BOS(4)FRA the Pixies.
ETA: and yup, it's our first bustout so far (iirc, the McFerrin was played in a HFH set).
-
Any of you guys on Facebook?
Most of us. I am.
-
WOS the Moodies, well past their sell-by date in '88.

Ditto.

sounds like the Pixies .. BOS2
(another to Waterboys)
-
pixie's "Where is my mind?" used perfectly in the last scene of "Fight Club".
IMHO.
-
WOS the Moodies, well past their sell-by date in '88.
I agree completely. This is really weak cheeze.
-

Lol, I haven't heard this but I'm diggin' it, so I'm VHMn' it. For some reason I like bands that release songs way after their "sell-by date". (i.e. Tears for Fears's CD from earlier this decade.

Moody Blues in 70's. Loved them.
But this is crap.
-

no, BOS from me!
They still have that romantic sound happening. Justin Hayward sounds good.

nothing wrong with making a comeback if you've got the material to back it up. But this was just them (IMHO) trading on their name to have a "lite-rock" hit.

Have you ever heard the Hayward/Lodge side project "Bluebirds" from '75 or so? Worth seeking out.

HM for Depeche Cohen.

The day I moved to San Jose in 1988 - Highway 17 was backed up because some jilted guy went physcho shooting up the roadway.
-
another BOS to Terence Trent D'Arby
(http://prblog.typepad.com/strategic_public_relation/images/arbys.jpg)
-
Kissing like a 'trina, stealing Morey faves. I'd *really* hoped AL would find something besides "Wishing Well" to spin from TTD's fab debut.
-
another BOS to Terence Trent D'Arby
i'd rather have the sandwich than one of Dave's biggest '88 Katrinas.
-
>:( OMG. 'Wishing Well?' Why'd she have to go play that?! I was wishing for "Red Red Wine" - UB40 ...
-
Wishing well is sort of a quilty pleasure. - very bubble gum ish
-
I thought GnR would be a flash-in-the-pan. Guess I was wrong
-

Hmm, OK. But I thought we had that already .. with the Moody Blues.

b/c Fogheads know quality when they hear it? ....... (long pause) .... HAHHAHAHAHA !
-
bonus track was all about the chick rockers
"Fill in the last name of this woman artist who was big in 88: Tracy ___________."
Chapman, natch. She also mentioned Melissa _________ and Michelle ________ (Etheridge and Chocked) as other choices she was thinking of.
AL likes her independent unconventional ladies!
the weiner chose a Melissa Etheridge song that was pretty good, forgot the name, bu tit had a heartful of soul and soulful of heart.
-
bu tit
an unfortunate typo, when yer writing about women artists
-
bu tit

not the first time I've done that sort of thing. My fave is the time I tried to type "Got it" and ... well, you know how THAT came out.

Bobby McFerrin did the worst National Anthem ever at AT&T (SBC/Pac Bell) Park.
And this set is a "meh" to me.

No. Not Facebook nor My Space nor Twitter. Nothing.

You mean Everyone Loves a Happy Ending? I dug that too! Glad someone else heard it.
This is a good idea: Someday I'll do a list of great after-the-fame-has-gone albums.

With one notable exception, a pretty damn good set.
WOS by far though is Bobby M. Never liked it, don't like it now, never will.
