I think that was kind of the point. Probably not a small amount of irony in mind when they recorded this, although a lot of people didn't get it.

That's a caveat to young musicians: be sure you really like the songs you are releasing, because you don't know which of them might become exceedingly popular, and could end up paying your bills for the rest of your life. Which means you'll be playing it for the rest of your life.
