This'll work! BOS1 to CSN and S:JBE. Big sledgehammer for me on this one, although the event it's related to didn't occur for a couple more years.

Most def. As rare as anything else that AL has played in her brief tenure, I'd say.

BOS3 to Janis, Try.

What. A. Voice.

I've always enjoyed this, though the chicka-chicka part is pretty silly and dated.

Submarine?

I'll echo the BOS.  I love this song, though I was always puzzled by its inclusion on the soundtrack since the bulldog scene was cut from the original version of the movie.  It's restored on the DVD release, which is great to watch and listen to.

Wow, "Make Your Own Kind of Music" has a very Partridge Family sorta sound to it, although this was at least a year or two before the Partridges debuted. Was Wes Farrell connected to her in any way?

It's a Mann & Weill composition (they also wrote her "It's Getting Better"), and produced by Steve Barri. So def in that pop/bubblegum wheelhouse.

Had to do something to escape the heat this eve, so I caught the Harry Potter film over in Sherwood. Got out at 9:20 and beat it home in time to catch this set again. Happy to say I made it.

Btw, it was 107 here this afternoon. I thought I was living back in Sacramento for a while. Oh well, it'll help me acclimate for our trip to Austin next week. Whoever thought a cheese convention in Texas in August was a good idea will probably be cashiered from the organization after next week.

And now at quarter past 10, it's cooled all the way down to 89. I think I'm sleeping in the basement tonight.

   9.  Toots & the Maytalls - Pressure Drop

This is an unusually high quotient of specialness.  I'm pretty impressed.  The Taj Mahal cut alone is major, but the Dylan/Cash thing blew my mind, took me right back to Isla Vista the night the album came out.

High praise indeed. And 110% true. It says a lot about the quality of a set when the weakest song of the bunch is by John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers--and I mean that as no disrespect to them; I like Room to Move a lot. Just that everything else was very VERY good.
