AL playing AL...good one.

So does this mean we get a "classic" (from three weeks ago) tomorrow?

So what do you think is coming?  Ohio, Hotel California, Massachusetts, Texas Twister, New Hampshire (!), Mississippi Queen, Arkansas Traveller?

Think we'll hear the BeeGee's Massachusetts? Carolina on In My Mind? Deep In the Heart of Texas? Cheap Trick's California Man (or the original by the Move)?

Hah! Looks like the skunked both of us on the California tune, Dave. Not a problem--California Girls is just as good a choice. (Now if she'd played LL Cool J's Goin Back to Cali that would have REALLY set me on my ear.)

I don't really need to hear Hotel California any more.  It's a great track, but played out.  Now if she'd played Diamond Dave's version of "California Girls", well, that would be something.  Not sure what it would be.

Cheap Trick would have been great.  I would also have accepted Diamond Dave's version of California Girls.  I would like Mainline Florida!

As long as we don't hear New York State Of Mind I'm good.

either we get the set where she played X's "4th of July" or we get a Morey Classic with his voice cut out and AL doing a new intro/outro.

And we missed on Texas, too. Either of our picks would have been as good as Chris Rea.

Btw, I just got a hint from the player of what we have in store. Don't peek if you don't want to blow the surprise (but I'm pretty sure it's a bustout).

Interesting choice with Chris Rea's "Texas" (don't know if that's really what it's called).  Not a great song, but rare, fer sure.  Woulda liked to hear a little Lyle Lovett for this state.

That's Right (You're Not From Texas) would have been nice indeed.

I see we both nailed the BeeGees song. One out of three ain't bad. Except this sounds more like the Moody Blues Jayhawks than the BeeGees.

I could write a book.  Breakfast at Elephant & Castle on Greenwich Ave near 12th. No relation to the chain of the same name. I've been eating there since 1978. Best French Toast on the planet.  Good Burgers too.  More as I think of it.

I guess this is Loretta Lynn with Jack White.

BOS's to Texas and Massachusetts.  For being a non-year set it's suprisingly not dry.

Who could be in store...Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen (or by Melissa Ferrick?)

Heard everything but the Skynyrd (no great loss) in the car.  Pretty good set, and a theme that I don't believe Dave ever attempted, so props for both concept & execution.

Nothing wrong with Ray Charles, and this is woefully obscure, but if she'd played "Don't Want To Die In Georgia" by Brewer & Shipley, it would have made my year.  And I would have been almost as excited if she'd worked in "Arizona Skies" by China Crisis, but I think Rob has played that & I know Ginger did once.

But since either of those would be ginormous longshots, I  at least was hoping for a helping of early 70's cheese from amongst the following:
"Arizona" - Mark Lindsay
"Indiana Wants Me" - R. Dean Taylor
"The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia" - Vicky Lawrence

My theory is that AL tries to make up for being too obscure in the set by playing a really obvious bonus. It's been the rule in the last few weeks.

But check out who covers "Massachusetts" on this comp (http://www.secondhandsongs.com/medium/19632) - a name I hadn't thought about in a while.  Shock, shock, horror, horror, shock, shock, horror!

Man, I tuned in during Loretta and Jack's "Portland, Oregon" and was totally confused.  I knew the song was too new to be in a 10@10 and thought they had finished the marathon early.

I was about to call in tell them "YEAH!" because I love that song and wish they'd play it more.

Should've known it was too good to be true that they'd be playing it during normal hours.  :-P
