Nice way to start the week! And a non-standard intro, to boot.

that was an oldie they brought back for variety, methinks. And speaking of intros: Lou Reed goes loooong.

Well, there are three possibilities in the DB. All are pretty good (from 74 how could they not?) but I'd be happiest if this were the most recent of them.
Not even gonna *look* to see what LA is playin' today. It's probably 73, since they had 74 last week when KFOG went to 73.

there are no less than three sets in the Db that kick off with this. Perhaps the intro tells us it is the one from 11/4/2002. The others are 10/26/2005 & 9/22/2008.

I think the 2005 set is more stellar. More rarities anyhow.
ETA: looks like 1979 on the Sound, "Let's Go" followed by "Oliver's Army".

BOS the Rev. Al, "Sha-La-La". Nuthin' beats Memphis horns.
LA is doing '79, FWIW.

well, Gaz'll be happy we missed GFR and Geoff'll be sorry we missed the Dead.
Anyone in touch with Gaz? -- he hasn't posted in a couple days and his "farewell" blog post was a bit, er, abrupt. Hope he's OK.
BOS2 Geils.

BOS, the j. giels band. The non-live version of "Must Of Got Lost."

Nothing wrong with that one, but I'm partial to the selections in today's set.

proxy of cairo: the dan when they were a band.

as usual, great guitar work in Steely Dan's stuff. Rikki sounds good

LAWD! BOS3 Bowie's "1984" in a rare (only?) appearance. Who could ask for mooooooooooooooore?
-
Nice to hear 1984--a nice change from Rebel Rebel, which has been in the last couple of 74 trips.

Almost...it showed up a couple of times in '06. But! This is the only appearance in the DB for this Neil Diamond...er, Andy Kim tune.
-
proxy of Gaz and BOS4: Andy Kim's ode to the loss of butt-virginity. Not to mention a damn fine Neil Diamond imitation -- both vocally and physically:

Lovin' the set, but can't post much, and not likely to be online again until Friday. Packing up for a conf/expo in Vegas, leaving at 2, back late Thurs.

BOS5 Joni, "Trouble Child" -- will we get the seg into "Twisted"?

Hope you can squeeze in a little fun while you're down there--at least, here's hoping.
And since we're hearing '74 today you may not miss anything too special 10@10-wise before Friday.

Cue Cheech Marin! Flip City!

Awesome set. Gotta love the phasing in the Roxy.

YESSSSS!!!
And now the set really takes off--Out of The Blue! BOSes abound!
-
BOS6 Roxy. Another "classic" set that really is one. Maybe someone is actually listening to these beforehand instead of going "eeny-meeny-miny-moe" in the database.

BOS Roxy
and out of the Blue love came rushing in,
Out of left field, Randy Winn!
eta: .... or Fred Lewis

VHM RnRH-K.

Not *quite* a BOS in light of everything else we've heard today, but still a VHM for the
Messrs. Derringer and Hartman, and the rest of the Edgar Winter Group, who I believe were the backing band on this Mr. Derringer. (Checked my info after the fact--EW did play on this, but none of the rest of the EWG did. However, the ubiquitous Joe Walsh did.)
And one last BOS to Reunion! Beebeebumbleandthestingers...
-
OMG! all this and Reunion too! Mushroom Omelete/Bonnie Bramlett BOS7
(http://home.comcast.net/~bubblegumusic/reunion45.jpg)
VHM Joey "Ohio Express" Levine on lead vox. As I've mentioned before, I met one of the producers back in the '80s thru a personal ad in the Village Voice.

What's with the subtlely different close? "Thanks for listening, I appreciate it." Hmmm.

they must've gotten emails from people (or maybe even Dave himself) saying, jeez, mix it up a little, whydon'cha?

I guess after 4+ months of "It's your favorite show" and "Have a great rest of today" people finally caught on that maybe these were entirely canned.

yeah, me, too. But I had to put a true outfielder in the lyric. yesterday Randy played LF and his name fits better than "Fred Lewis," the current light-hitting LFer.
Kung Fu Panda is a bulky dude, but he can move. Bunted for a single yesterday, I think.
