Trifectas happen so rarely -- too bad it couldn't be 3 '68 sets or 3 '72s.

I got a lion in my pocket and baby he's ready to ROAR!
BOS #1 as I loved this album back in the day. Danced to it a lot in college.

"nucular" arms freeze. >:(

"nucular" arms freeze. >:(
yeah, noticed that. W ain't the only one w that habit.
-
Prince and Soft Cell -- Human League would make it an '82 dance trifecta for me. Will it be the looooooong version of "Tainted Love"?
-
Interesting set, dating from 12/11/2006, for those who like to look ahead.
ETA: "1999" has been TotHK thrice, and none of those sets have been classics until now.

You can't hug your children with nucular arms. Or nuclear ones, for that matter.

Nope, thankfully.

BOS Percy, a rarity methinks.

There were three possible sets that led off with 1999 in the DB--this is the most recent (12/11/06). But it looks like it's pretty good, save for one song by the band who shall not be named (hint: rhymes with Hens That Shirk).
Hey! The DB said we were supposed to hear the Where Did Our Love Go medley of Tainted Love--where'd it go?

And I won't spoil what *is* coming, but I can tell you that this set is not only nuclear free but also Human League free.

too band it wasn't "sex dwarf" I prefer dwarves over taints.
-
BOS Percy, a rarity methinks.
relatively, it's in the Db 5 times, and it's always either tune #2 or #3.

In the category "Best song featuring a mummy guitar solo," The sole nominee is Plant's "Burning Down One Side."
-
VHM MOW, just 'cause it's NOT "Down Under" or "WCIBN?"
-
I can give "Underground" a VHM. I always thought that this was really a good album top to bottom, except, ironically, for the two #1 singles it contained.
-
VHM2 Huey: $200 rent? in MARIN??
-
...thrice...
You're really lovin' that word, eh?
Woohooo! For once a phone call works in my favor--missed the Men At Work tune entirely.
-
I feel very meh about Huey Lewis & the News, and would give it a WOS except for the harmonica solo.
-
VHM2 Huey: $200 rent? in MARIN??
In Marin City in '82, could be. Or Novato?
-

"Boy, the way Glenn Miller played!"

Break out your custom-made tambourines for the goat!
-
another VHM the Goat at her loveliest.

Hey Princess, I like your avatar. Saw that movie & loved it!

I've searched in vain for a picture of a goat with a tambourine. Did find a goat-skin tambourine, tho'.
BOS Roxy Ferry

you should get one, once the artist starts taking orders!
-

"Boy, the way Glenn Miller played!"
Ha, for a second I thought you were quoting "Reminiscing" rather than the "All in the Family" theme!
-
Definitely BOS for Bryan telling us about The Main Thing.
-
BOS to "Gypsy," dammit.

Yeah, it was great. I saw that and The Class (which was also amazing!) on Saturday.

you'd think all the Jews in the Academy would've given it (Israel's first) Best Foreign Film Oscar. :) But hey, they gave the Short Film award to a Holocaust thing, as well as La Winslet.

Got my vote. Between Avalon, JJ's Night and Day, and Peter Gabriel's Security, '82 wasn't such a bad year.

Not, really, what with Ron Ben-Yishai's involvement (truths?).

Too much ("tam-tam") time on her hands.

My dislike of "Flaming De-Zii-YAHH" is well documented. WOS.

BOS2 "Flaming Desire". Sea creature! Sex creature!

First I'm hearing of it -- but I'm sad to find this out.

I'm in the opposite camp, but still wish DM would explore more of the Nelson/Be Bop Deluxe catalog besides this one song. Panic in the World would be lovely, but probably not gonna happen.

indeed -- "Life in the Air Age" (correct title?) was a fave at my college radio station.
-
Paul Collins Beat gets my last BOS of the day.
At this rate I don't think I will be able to make a b-day request of Dave, even if he comes back as soon as next week.

It just occurred to me that I missed my chance this year, since my birthday was on Saturday.

Yep, that's the name; it was on Sunburst Finish. And it spawned the title of their obligatory (in the late 70s) double-live set, Live in the Air Age.

Tanks. I got my old band together and we rocked the garage, I can tell you. It was big fun.

Belated happy BD! Do anything fun to celebrate? (ETA: I see you already answered that question.)
And with Rastermon's yesterday, it's a regular b-day fest around here.
-
So every now and then Dave gets on Yahoo Messenger and I'm tempted to ask him what's up, but I always chicken out. Anybody tempted, or actually asked him something?

I haven't ever caught him online, as my current gig is using AIM for IM communications, not YM. But I'm with you--I'd be a little scared of intruding on his personal time. Of course, he'd probably ignore me anyway.

Well, if he's on there (and still using "DaveMoCal") then he should expect a hello or a "we miss you, when ya comin' back"!

I did have a snazzy party playing music in the garage, featuring the old KFOG playlist pretty much. We did "Life During Wartime", "China Grove", "Already Gone", "Crocodile Rock" and many more, including "Listen to Her Heart" which we put together just for the occasion. I played bass a lot of the time since our original bassist wasn't available. I have the two greatest (worst?) blisters on my 2nd and 3rd fingers.

Ditto, Happy Belated Bday Dave!!
We could jam in Dave's Garage, his wife was screaming "Turn it Down"!!
We were playing the same old songs, and sometimes we would play it all night long,
It was all we knew and easy too, so we couldn't get it wrong,
Even when we played it on the saxophone...
-
I got my old band together...
but were you on a mission from God?
(likewise on the belated happy wishes)

Nope, no Roxette, or Roxanne.

I relate. Happens to me whenever I pick up a pair of drumsticks for more than about 10 minutes.

Nope, no Roxette, or Roxanne.
Then whose "Listen to Her Heart" is that? (I think the Roxette is "Listen to YOUR Heart," but I had the same initial reaction as the Princess.)
