Gotta be 70s today...
And it is: Todd leads off, Love is the Answer.
ETA: Or to be more specific, Utopia.
-
Disco Ricky alert!
But Todd/Utopia to start. Has Dave ever played the ED&JFC version of this?
-
Nice start, BOS #1.
-
And quickly followed by BOS2, Elvis's Radio Sweetheart. Trivia: Featuring what future member of the Doobie Brothers?

John McFee?
ETA: John also is the player on the Dead's "Pride of Cucamonga," which most people erroneously think Garcia played the steel part.

I second the BOS 1 & 2 and give a BOS3 to Q's "Dancin' Man", which has made several appearances this year, no?

I had the single of KM,KY back in the day and for a while later was ashamed to admit it. But not anymore!

Whoa!! Rare Peter Gabriel, from his first solo record. Modern Love can be a strain...
-
Proxy of Alicat?
sure should be. hope she's listening. Which reminds me, anyone want to meet & get a photo with Jerry Rice in San Carlos on Sat?
Saturday, December 13th
40 El Camino Real, San Carlos
(In the San Carlos Plaza across from Longs Drug Store)
Bring a new, unwrapped toy and get your photo taken with Jerry Rice
(Between 3:00pm- 6:00pm)
-
it's been swell, silently following along, but the little angels are done with their silent reading, so I must depart.
-

Is this a 10at10 bustout? I don't recall ever hearing it here.

I think Dave's played it (yeah I always say that) but it's surely a rarity. But APP, OTOH...
-
just got to work, but heard Utopia from home -- I LOVE the bridge in that song. todd always knows exactly what to steal/borrow. :)

Nearly. It's in the Shraytabase just once, back in July of 2002. Long ago enough that we'd have all forgotten.
-
...and from non-proggy Gabriel doing a straight ahead rocker we go to non-proggy Parsons doing a power ballad.
-
We're not quite in 10-way-tie territory, thx to the Q and APP, but this has been a pretty strong set for '77. Also a short one: this is #8, iirc, and it's not 10:30 yet.
-
Pistols, baybee!
I'd've MUCH preferred a full-length Pistols tune to RamJam for the billionth time -- WOS just 'cause I'm quite burned out on this one.
-
... 'cause I'm quite burned out on this one.
That's exactly why its BOS! ;) Relish the jam, man:

Ram Jam Black Betty!
for 10 frink points, what rather more famous group from the 60's did the Ram Jam guitarist come from?
-
And finishing with another rarity-if-not-bustout, Dave Mason, Mystic Traveller.
ETA: Yep, rarity. Only in the DB but once--three-plus years ago.
-

another one-timer, excellent way to close.

This was from a good LP, Mason played my college during this tour.

"Mystic traveller
he's the unraveller"
wow -- that's DEEP!

Yep, his popularity as a solo act was peaking around this time. Couldn't tell you what else he'd done since then.

Ram Jam Black Betty!
for 10 frink points, what rather more famous group from the 60's did the Ram Jam guitarist come from?
Bill Bartlett was the leader of the Lemon Pipers. Both basic OHW's but the LP's hit #1, whereas RJ only hit #18.

I'm in shock! The Foghead went for the prog rock! Yes' Going For the One is today's bonus track!

She went for "the first one". We could agree to give this foghead the benefit of the doubt, but I don't know that she knew what she really wanted...

Elvis is dead???
the deejay who read that Elvis is Dead bulletin started playing Leo Sayer's "How Much Love" before Dave ended that clip. That song's a pop-candy fave of mine.

Oh my yes. I know we have some Sayer-haters here, but that whole LP is a masterful '70s-pop smorgasbord, thanks in no small part to producer Richard Perry.

I'm giving this BOS on the replay. Even if the boogie don't believe in me. My former softball teammate Adrian thinks of this as the ultimate coke recording (it does have a relentless, feverish quality to it). HM to Q (Jaggerz connection, no?), cuz I hadda get up, hadda get down to it.
-
I'll miss Thursday and Friday sets. Trip to Sacramento. I'll catch up Saturday. Have a great rest of the week!!!!! aaack. Football picks.

Were you looking at me? I've heard 4 Leo Sayer songs: really dig "When I Need You," kinda like "More Than I Can Say," and utterly despise "Long Tall Glasses" and "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing." D = diploma, I guess.
But back on point, thanks for ID'ing the song that followed from the Elvis clip; I was curious.

TANC: Not 12 hours after typing the above sentence, was in the car driving into town to get a chicken and some cold remedies (wifey is illin'), and Rockline comes on the classic rock station in the car. Who's the guest? Dave Mason. I s**t you not.
