It's cruel to play a Katrina as song #2 -- no wonder people don't like Mondays!

But if things don't improve I really *will* "Run Like Hell".

I just use the "listen" link on the KFOG main page. No problems here. Keep trying.

I'm on through the main KFOG.com link, no problems here.  Other than nothing special to post about in the first three songs.

I'll BOS "Boogie Wonderland," one of disco's last great gasps.  Would enjoy the Bee Gees' "Love You Inside Out" as a follow-up.

It's Dave's greatest '79 hits!  But BOS Bram T anyway -- still one fabulous track.

First song I can really get excited about today.  Always lovely to hear.

Did BT ever do anything else worth hearing

When I think of 1979 music memories, top of mind is Joe Jackson, Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe, Blondie, Doobie Bros., Dire Straits, Kinks, Supertramp, Led Zep and Bee Gees.  Oh yeah, and the Cars!

'fraid not.  But hearing this always reminds me of the other, similarly 12-sting-infused "Too Late" by the Shoes, which only Rob has ever played, and of course the Records' "Starry Eyes", which Dave's never favored us with but which Annalisa has Bonused.

VHM for the Supertramp, being as it's Gone Hollywood, a relatively infrequent flyer compared to Goodbye Stranger and The Logical Song (and a better song, imo).

Actually I stand corrected: Per the DB, Gone Hollywood has appeared more often than both of those combined. Who'd a thunk?

I'll BOS the Police, for Message in a Bottle. One of the great singles of '79 and very distinctive back in the day. Now we've all heard it far more than we need to, but back then this was pretty fresh stuff.

I'da thunk it.  I love Supertramp but long ago tired of pretty much all of side one of BIA.  I do dig it when Dave plays "Just Another Nerovus Wreck" and wish he'd play "Lord Is It Mine?" or "Child Of Vision".

This was the first song of theirs where I realized Sting was actually a pretty talented lyricist, especially in the area of cleverly extended metaphor (cf. "Murder By Numbers", "Fortress Around Your Heart", etc.)

ok, I still like it, even when they got all cheesey with mentioning all the designer labels.  A preoccupation w designer label status could be seen as a precursor of the greedy eighties, even though narcissism can't be blamed on any one political party, and I suspect Ronald Reagan prob never wore Fioruuci  (although RONNIE Reagan might've!).

Or on Booji Boi, either!

Looks like we've never heard Devo in a '79 set--that's a shame. Satisfaction or Jocko Homo would be pretty appropriate, imo.

Big Rick's been mixing that one in for several years.  It's definitely less interesting than the original, but I can't really fault him for playing it from time to time.  I think I've also heard a live Toyes version a couple times.

Exactly. I'm sure all the musicians involved with the Blues Bros. got a much deserved payday for that project, but they were hired to lend some cred to the project as much as for their licks. Jake & Elwood didn't exactly earn their stripes playing in funky dive bars (and no, their Blues Bar in NYC does not count).

I saw the Blues Brothers live at Winterland, and it was pretty darn good.
