-
Billy bleepin' Idol, "Catch Mah Fawl"
-
Holy moley, when did Billy Idol turn into Simple Minds?
-
VHM Prince & Appollonia ("thank you"), "Take Me With U", Katrina tho' it may be -- being legal in 2 years sure does increase the airplay.
-
some Prince-sounding thing "Take Me With You"

That's 'cause it's, er, PRINCE. (sheesh ;) )
'95 was one thing; no excuses in '84, bub!
BOS Lou Reed, "Ah Lurves You Suzanne"

As Mike hinted, "Catch My Fall" is the title. I've been hearing quite a bit of older Idol lately, and I was just told this weekend that some Eurodisco jokers have reworked "Dancing With Myself."
ETA: WOS to asshole Lou Reed, "I Love(s) You Suzanne."

BOS Lou Reed, "Ah Lurves You Suzanne"
Is he talking about Leonard Cohen's girlfirend?
I doubt she loves his perfect body or his mind.
-
Brad Garrett was on Star Search? I assume that's the ELRaymond frankenstein monster?
-
VHM Star Search -- Brad Garrett! Sawyer Brown! Sam Harris!
-
Proxy of Beej for the Shooting Shark. And I guess Alicat too?

More like his stash. So what don't you like about Lou, personally?

Yup. He'd been around for some time before landing in sitcom-ville. He was great, pre-Raymond, on a short-lived show called "Pursuit of happiness", playing a big butch gay guy.

a cross between "shooting the cat" and "jumping the shark"?

I guess considering your avatar, I shouldn't have exposed such ignorance!

WOS Zebra, "Bears" -- a total Narada to me, and I've never understood Dave's love for it.

He'd certainly be big. 6' 8.5" according to IMDB.
- He'd have an enormous schwanschtucker.
- It goes without saying.
- He's going to be very popular.
-
WOS Zebra, "Bears" -- a total Narada to me, and I've never understood Dave's love for it.
guitarist named Randy Jackson (different guy) who actually sounds pretty talented.

Yes, a total Narada, but a catchy tune nonetheless!

Point taken. But for me this is typical of the generic stuff AOR was awash in at the time; it's the reason alt/New Wave formats began to flourish.

BOS to U2 in a pretty synthy year

YooHoo, its YouToo ;) VHM

I agree. Good rarity points for this one.
-

Ohhh, towering WOS for John Waite. I've always hated this one.

"That's the letter 'U'... and the numeral '2'"

and BOS2 from me. Yikes! Mr Waite -- I wasn't missing him at all. One of many attempts to duplicate the sound of "Every Breath you Take", and WOS2 for that reason alone.

I never liked his "Suzanne," but I'm still grousing b/c he went off on a journalist for asking an innocent question about money. As someone in the field, I'm sympathetic. This is discussed in one of the Stream of Consciousness threads, probably Print Media?

What's this synthy thang??

Tina's Take: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_7s5fSNkIM
Tina can make anything better.
OMFG!!! Bustout "The Lebanon", Human League BOS3. An amazing forgotten song.

I'm right there with you. The "no matter what my friends say" was a lazy payoff line.

I hadn't heard this before, but when I heard the cacophanous guitar intro two words sprang to mind: British and wankers!
-

BOS from me. Human League, "The Lebanon," which got limited airplay I think b/c it was a touchy subject.
-
thank you Dave for helping us to remember Bhopal
-
HM to Nik Kershaw's "Wouldn't It Be Good," a minor sledgehammer for me.

Dave and Irish Greg had a discussion about it recently on the Morning show -- Greg, iirc, hates it, and Dave defended it, and I remember thinking: "so play it on 10@10 already".
BOS4 Nik Kershaw's onetime 'trina that we haven't heard much lately. This set has officially been rescued from averageness.
-
VHM for Nik Kershaw. I like this cheeze.

Pretty in Pink. Apparently Kershaw's people turned John Hughes down. Idiots.
But Dave! Sam Harris isn't Latino! (or very butch)
