Request thread just went up.
-
Songwriter Wayne Carson died yesterday -- among his gems were "The Letter", "Soul Deep" and "Neon Rainbow" (all for the Box Tops)... and a little ditty called "Always On My Mind" which the Pet Shop Boys did in '88. So don't be surprised if we hear that one (even tho' she played it a month ago).
-
Siouxie says "Peek-a-Boo" to start us off with a rarity -- only a couple of prev appearances.
-
TOTHK - Siouxie and the Banshees "Peek-a-Boo"

OMFG: "Pop Goes the World". MWH. BOS1 for the Cap'n's request. A bustout, apparently.
-
movie/tv clip ---> Dan Quayle ---> The Escape Club "Wild, Wild West" -- uber-LN

I coulda done without "Wild Wild West". I still think "sheriff's on the airwaves talking to the D.J.'s" sounds like "Cher is on the airwaves..."
EEK: sounds like a 12" remix.

Totally new to me. Nice to hear something fresh though, and well done on the request!

One of the non-GS fogheads requested it along with a bunch of other FFs. Some people just want to hear the same 10 songs over and over and over...

Jimmy Swaggart begs for forgiveness ---> Morrissey "Everyday Is Like A Sunday"

-
Mike + Mechanics -- "Living Years", sentimental fave for me. BOS3. It generally appears in '89 sets, no?
ETA: it's one of those on-the-cusp'ers
-
Talking Heads
"Naked""Blind"
-
T.Heads, "Blind". Not one of my faves.
-
BOSFRA T Heads "Blind". Another foghead request, but somewhat more rare.
-
T.Heads, "Blind". Not one of my faves.
I'll give it a BOS cause I like its sound and haven't heard it in a long time. Chorus is pretty bad though.
-
Geraldo Rivera ---> INXS "Devil Inside"
-
uber-uber-LN INXS.
-
ILNXS
*drops mic*

SNL The Church Lady ---> Bob Dylan "Silvio"

Church Lady meets Pat Robertson --> Dylan, "Sylvio" VHM.

another well-worn LN: Smithereens.

-
Bush/Quayle --> we don't wanna go back to tomorrow --> "Tomorrow People". Heh.
-
most Smithereens are meh for me, but this one rocks.
I also hear The Beatles* "I Want To Tell You" riff in the break.
* George Harrison
-
WTF ---> no closing and straight into music?

Church Lady meets Pat Robertson --> Dylan, "Sylvio" VHM.
from deaddisc.com
Silvio is one of two songs on the Down In The Groove album that were co-written by Bob Dylan and Robert Hunter, the other being Ugliest Girl in the World.
Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir and Brent Mydland provide backing vocals on the original Bob Dylan recording of the song.
Rick Griffin's original (unused) cover art for the album:

WTF ---> no closing and straight into music?
you must be streaming? because over-the-air featured a back-announce
(...and parting gifts. I got a case of Turtle Wax! :P )
-
WTF ---> no closing and straight into music?
computer glitch, I'm guessing. Did it happen yesterday too?

I heard the back announce, but there was no "...but we'll do it again tomorrow! City to city and across the bay, it's 10 at 10 on KFOG..."
-
WTF ---> no closing and straight into music?
I think they did this yesterday, too. Something to keep people from tuning away during the post-10@10 commercial onslaught?

Check. Yeah, that seems like a mistake.

Last night's replay had some really abrupt transition into some current pop fodder. Kind of like turning the lights on so the cockroaches scurry away!

It remains their highest hour of the day, so I guess trying to hold on to the crowd by playing more music instantly makes sense.
