WOS and uber-LN (for me personally anyway) DMB "Satellite"
I react to DMB in the 90s the same way I do to Men At Work in 82-83 sets.
-
OK, OK we get it: the internet was new in 1994.
Guided by Voices, "I Am a Scientist". BOS for a decent rarity.

I was never a fan, really, and I remain baffled by his huge popularity. He's one of the most boring rock stars ever, IMHO

enuf with the internet clips. Jeebus.
Alice in Chains, "No Excuses"

Seems like this is a bustout. Only thing revealed by a search of the board is "Chasing Heather Crazy" turning up in a few 2001 sets.
-
WOS Sideshow Bob and his Crows. He's no "Einstein".
-
Speaking of bands that went from Next Big Thing to overplayed product in about a year....
Einstein on the Beach (For an Eggman) for those keeping score at home.
-
I'm maxed out on these internet clips.
uber-BOS2 Shonen Knife "Top of the World"!!
-
Crapton with some blooze to make you snooze.
-
sorry, I was on the phone and missed some stuff.
LOL Weird Al parodying Crash Test Dummies.
what I missed: "American Life in the Summertime" - Francis Dunnery. A bustout?
-
#9 was Francis Dunnery, American Life in the Summertime. (I had to crib the title from the GS board. Good song, but never heard it before.)
-
Uber-BOS to Weird Al’s funniest (IMO) song!!! I’d requested it every time she posted the Tonya/Nancy picture and had just about resigned myself to not hearing it. And now she plays it. :D
-
despite the boring parts (DMB CCs, Crapton) this was a pretty decent '94.

I requested it, and I'm surprised (and glad) that AL played it!

methinks there were more than 2 "internet" soundbites in that set :)

Actually, the Internet was almost ten years old in 1994. Commercial access had been available
for two or three years. A clip about the Canter-Siegel incident (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laurence_Canter_and_Martha_Siegel) would have been timely, though.

I don't qualify as a fan, and I'm unlikely to purchase his recordings or attend his concerts. I hear
him mostly on the radio, and mostly on KFOG's 10@10. Given that, I don't find him overexposed.
YMMV.
What I hear are songs that are generally positive, and usually thoughtful, rendered by a band
that can actually play their instruments and make music, as opposed to simply banging on them
somewhat rhythmically. The compositions are not overly dense, yet they are a bit more
complicated and interesting than your average pop/rock tunes. I think the music of the DMB is
likely to have more staying power in twenty years than many other contemporary pop artists.
De gustibus non disputandum est and all, so I realize that upbeat music played by skilled
musicians for happy people may not be for everybody.

LN snark.

While I'm not at the level that some are about Bruce, I do like DM, with or without the B, and would attend a concert given the right opportunity. Hearing "What Would You Say?" always brightens my attitude. And I own most of his material.
