FB request thread is up.
-
If we hear "Walk Like an Egyptian" I may go postal. But I suspect it's slated to be out TOTHLN.
BTW, AL has said multiple times this week that she saves all requests for future shows. She must have quite a huge database at this point.

Interesting is AL's response to a DeBarge request: she remembers an email she received hating on the song, hence she's weary of playing it due to a "vocal" minority. *sigh*
ETA: And I fear AL might also play another LN from '86: Prince "Kiss" (another selection from Under The Cherry Moon would be a pleasant surprise)
ETA2: Judging from FB responses, maybe Daryl Hall's "Dreamtime" will *finally* get played (a bustout, if it happens!)

AL starts early: TOTHK - The Clapper ---> The Rolling Stones "Harlem Shuffle"

Stones in Harlem to start -- fairly obvious but I won't complain. I've always liked this cover.

The song that convinced Joe Perry and Steven Tyler that maybe they'd be more successful if they packed in their differences and got the band back together.
-
The Smithereens "Behind The Wall Of Sleep"
and we're back in LN territory.

One of the Smithereens' better songs, LN or not. VHM for now; contingent on what else AL can come up with in the remaining 5 songs.
-
WOS Fab T-Birds, "Tuff Enuff".
-
clip (something about a professor and a computer keyboard) Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home ---> LN-hell #2: Fabulous Thunderbirds "Tuff Enuff"

-
LN-hell #2: Fabulous Thunderbirds "Tuff Enuff"
unlike the Bangles and Smithereens tunes, I never liked this one to begin with.
-

Between this and the Fab T-birds song, Behind the Wall of Sleep is sounding better and better.

ETA: AL should have played Daryl Hall's "Dreamtime" here, IMHO
-
another old song from a sndtk. I love Roy Orbison but this is still a cheat , IMHO.
-

that was a clip from Blue Velvet, as is the song.

the Clapper --> uber-LN Iggy, "Wild One".
My score: 2 great rarities, 7 very predictable selections and one sndtk cheat.
-

Agreed. Is this the first time she’s put one of these in a position other than #10?

Would love to vote for this as BOS, but I don't think I can, for that very reason.

I was referring to the connection to the previous chain saw song.

if "Kundalini Express" is your idea of a chainsaw song, you really ARE old. :)
and FWIW, I think Blue Velvet is extemely overrated.

As a musician, I'm referring to a certain guitar tone/style that's heavily used in the song. I'm probably a little more allergic to that than most. It was a totally irritating song, sonically, and I'm sorry to disrespect anyone's wonderful music of their youth. Jimi Hendrix and Blue Cheer pretty much used up all the chain saws a long time ago.
Oh, and one more thing. I never thought it was an intentional segue; AL is fond of the chain saws, and I'm sure doesn't think about it that way.
