In her first run, AL had some good efforts for this year (one included the 10@10 debut of "Trout").
-
Best comment so far, from our friend MS:
"It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday was our graduation song. Please don't play that".
-
I'll probably be listening in my car today, so I won't be able to post.
In other words, take copious notes!

Ross Perot's giant sucking sound.
TOTHK: Arrested Development, "Tennessee"
We're expecting a fire drill here at some point, so I may have to disappear temporarily.
-
Bill Clinton didn't inhale --> "Try Not To Breathe", REM. Nicely played, AL!

If memory serves, this appeared along with "Jump Around" and "Good Stuff" in a 92 set in the summer of 2010.

Wayne's World --> "Dyslexic Heart", a major major FF in this year.
-
some movie/TV clip about biological clocks --> PG, "Kiss That frog" Also fairly LN.

PG = Peter Gabriel (just remember some posters being confused by shorthand in the past, so I'm spelling certain entries out)
The clip is from My Cousin Vinny.

Keith Richards, Wicked as It Seems
I don't know if this is saying much, but Keith's solo material of the '80's and '90's is generally better than the Stones' work of the same period. Mick put out a great single around this time, too.
ETA: The Jagger single I like is called Don't Tear Me Up from 1993.
-
Keef "Wicked as it Seems"
Charles & Di break up --> Dolby, "I Love You Goodbye". Nice segue but this is an uber-LN to me.

I'm also quite fond of Bill Wyman's "Je Suis Un Rock Star"

After Thomas Dolby, it's L7, Pretend We're Dead.
This might be my BOS.
-
Scent of a Woman (Al Pacino) clip --> Soul Asylum, Keep It Up
ETA: Like the REM, this is an album track; the best-known single from this album is Runaway Train
-
Talking Heads, Lifetime Piling Up
ETA: This apparently is their last release, polished up for a compilation after they broke up.
-
There's your Don Pardo sounder --> Clip from The Player (Robert Altman's comeback film starring Tim Robbins) --> The Lemonheads, Mrs. Robinson
-
back from fire drill; don't feel like I missed anything earth-shattering. The Lemonheads tune is in frequent KFOG rotay, so uber-LN to that one
-
I'd've *loved* hearing all of that Boyz2Men tune. Srsly.
-
Bonus partial track: Boyz II Men, It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday (for Foghead Meredith)
-
I'd've *loved* hearing all of that Boyz2Men tune. Srsly.
I would have liked End of the Road even better.
-
Another AL perk: she actually ID's the clips in her backannounce. What a concept!

I have often requested "Motownphilly" in '91 sets. And will again.

I would tolerate "Motownphilly" or "I'll Make Love To You", but overall I'd have to say that Boyz II Men would qualify as a guilty displeasure.
Overall, not a very impressive set, I'm afraid to say. The handful of rarities don't make up for the slate of Katrinas. Probably averages out to about a D+ on the "necessary" scale.
EDIT: Let me change that after hearing the replay. More of a 'B+'. Yes, there were some FFs in there, but they were good ones (Peter Gabriel, Thomas Dolby, I don't even mind "Dyslexic Heart" all that much). Arrested Development, somewhat ironically, was the only Top 40 hit in the bunch. The L7 and REM are certainly rarities, and good ones at that, whereas the Soul Asylum, while not necessarily memorable, was NTM.

"Yo these four new jacks is real
Smooth on the harmony tip"
Fogheads apparently ditched R&B and soul in the '70's, much to your displeasure in sets from subsequent years, I'm well aware.

saw BIIM at the Alameda County Fair one year and I became a fan!
didn't listen, but I would've preferred The Lemonheads' It's a Shame About Ray much more than Mrs Robinson.

that is the rule across the board on 10@10s, including the otherwise adventurous The Peak. It's OK to play R&B and cheezy pop from the '70s and maybe into the early '80s but somehow it's assumed (because of research? because of a few loud complainers?) that your average Triple-A listener hates anything non-rock from about 1985 on. KFOG is actually better at slipping in soul and even rap in '90s sets than anyone else (guess it's considered part of the tradition started by Dave); it appears to be verboten on The Peak.

I don't know anybody like that 8)

Maybe radio programmers and dj's obey the programming distinctions that ossified around then by reflex. Heck, the listeners probably do, too. It's a shame that shows like the 10@10's can't break through that more than they do, but maybe that's a pipe dream for idealists who just can't hack the way the "real" world works (like many, many parallels in politics, to name but one example).
Also, to add to your analogy, the average Triple-A listener hates anything "too" rock from about 1985 on, which explains the absence of almost all hard rock and its variants from those 10@10's.
Just stay in the middle of the road, baby, and avoid the ditch.

Did AL ever announce what got BOS for this '92 set?

Yes, REM's Try Not to Breathe. The announcement was buried in a response to a listener's post on her FB page.
