"Greed is Good" and "Snap OUT of it!"
(and FWIW, I requested "Talk Dirty to Me" by Poison, which I believe would be a bustout if we hear it.
-
And we already have the SRW uber-LN request of the Day: "C'est la Vie", Robbie Nevil. ::)

Haven't checked yet, but I'm pretty sure you're not joking.

I could hear the screams all the way up here.
-
Uberinfinity LN? ::)
ETA: did someone request this on FB?
-
"Don't Dream It's Over" - might be the first song to scream "AAA" when it was released (I think of "Mr. Jones" as being the lead HAC single).... and yes, it never needs to be played again.
-
BOS Smiths "Girlfriend/Coma" but this ain't no rarity either.
-
The Smiths "Girlfriend in a Coma"

uber-LN2 George, setting his mind on being a FF.

Uh oh George Harrison "Got My Mind Set On You" ... RGMike must be going nuts!
ETA: is KFOG really incapable of putting together a decent 10@10 set from the late '80s forward?
-
The Smiths "Girlfriend in a Coma"
Or, as the missus once called it "Ode To Terry Schiavo".
-
Uh oh George Harrison "Got My Mind Set On You" ... RGMike must be going nuts!
Just recently learned that this, in fact, is a cover (originally recorded by James Ray in 1962).

Wow, never knew that.
Always assumed George was just branching out in musical styles.
-
Six (or is it seven?) songs in and still nothing that even remotely says BOS to me. Yikes.
-
BOS2 Raising Arizona.
I'll actually VHM John Hiatt in this company.

Yah, I wasn't aware of that for a long time. It actually made me feel better about the song, since it seems like an awfully weak song, both lyrically and musically, but the George treatment definitely adds something to it.

ETA: is KFOG really incapable of putting together a decent 10@10 set from the late '80s forward?
traditionally, yes, since the Morey era this has been the worst year. But given the requests made last nite, there are no excuses today.

That's kind of where I'm going, too. No competition so far.

Then of course there is the Weird Al interpretation "This Song Is Just Six Words Long".
The Harrison version was one of the few songs to have two videos played on MTV, if memory serves.
-
"Oooohhh the smell of it", indeed.
another FF: the 'mats

Totally agree -- and I've got a soft spot for mindless bubble-gum pop songs...

Bourgeois Tagg "I Don't Mind At All"

-
VHM Bourgeois-Tagg, "I Don't Mind at All", always pleasant but far from rare in this context.
-
Calvin Klein Obsession ---> The Replacements "Can't Hardly Wait"
At least a better choice for BOS than Hiatt.
And outdistancing Westerberg et al is Sacramento's own Bourgeois Tagg. Heard this on the radio *a ton* circa 87. And then the band broke up and three of them became Todd Rundgren's backing band.

FB note: Props to SRW for busting balls on FP, who was pissing and moaning about the lack of Springsteen in the set. Quoth she: "Yeah, we dodged a bullet there."

Ha! Every now and then SRW delivers a nugget. And yep, I don't believe anything from "Tunnel Of Love" would've made this set memorable.

AL has an interesting explanation for today's set in the GS "Best of" Thread.
-
OK, it's an hour past the end of the set and I'll be damned if I've heard her announce a BOS winner. But I *have* sat thru Of Monsters and Men and Jack Johnson--grrrr. Perhaps BOS is no longer a thing?
-
1. Why Can't I Be You - The Cure
2. Cherry Bomb - John Mellancamp
(News: Jim & Tammy faye)
3. In God's Country - U2
4. Fade Away - Chris Isaak
5. Don't Dream It's Over - Crowded House
6. Girlfriend In A Coma - The Smiths
7. Got My Mind Set On You - George Harrison
(Movie: Raising Arizona)
8. Your Dad Did - John Hiatt
(Calvin Klein Obsession)
9. Can't Hardly Wait - Replacements
10. I Don't Mind At All - Bourgeois Tagg

I think she solicits BOS votes as unique FB posts, replies to posts, from phone, from email. If that's the case, it must take a lot of effort to collate them all (if she's being official, that is).
Renee seemed to collate from the single FB post.

I was wondering about that. I sat through commercials and a few songs before I gave up.
ETA: Okay, was there a declared BOS?

I saw that. And I want to believe the sets will get better when she's off the crutches and able to carry stacks-o-vinyl into the building. But it's not like some of the requests made Tues nite weren't already in the KFOG library.
-
RGMike, I couldn't find your *legendar
yily ignored* 1987 request list (save for Poison's "Talk Dirty To Me", of course)
using the search engine. Care to post it here? :)

I don't get it either.

The Smiths "Girlfriend in a Coma"
Or, as the missus once called it "Ode To Terry Schiavo".
New Jersey had Karen Ann Quinlan decades earlier -- possibly the first "right to die" case.

Knee surgery.
