Here's my BOS: NRBQ-A Little Bit of Bad. Big Al Anderson's swan song with the band--by the time this hit the charts, he'd left the band and was writing hits for Carlene Carter in Nashville.

I had this on my Best-of-'94 tape.  It's very John Hiatt-ish, IMHO.  Did he write or co-write?

BOS #3, "Last Dance..." which gets my vote for second or third coolest video of the early 90's, right up there with "Jeremy" & "Smells Like teen Spirit".

Not me. "Mary Jane" gets a nostalgic VHM.

That's a twist of which I was unaware.  Did Carlene ever get her sh!t sorted out?  (To tie this all together, she's the one who was with Tom Petty's junkie bassist, right?)

Allmusic credits Anderson/Burr, but doesn't say who Burr is.

I thought the same thing, Mike.  Even sounds rather like him singing.

Hee!  Are you that consistently on the minority end of things?

Nah, "Mary Jane"'s fine by me.  Hanging out with her this afternoon while writing AMG reviews, in fact.

Not that I'm aware of, but Big Al has written a few other tunes with Big John, so I wouldn't be surprised if some of his influence rubbed off on Al.
Let's get right to it.

Well, this sounds refreshing for 1994, even though it's over-the-hill Petty!

No, but Tom gets trashed pretty regularly around here, but I guess this one was acceptable.  And you guys are too mean to poor Ms. Crow.  All she wants to do is have some fun.

Plus, I think she's kinda cute.
