interesting that they'd do theme sets 2 days in a row -- Dave's only had that happen once or twice in the 16-1/2 years I've been 10@10-ing.

Radio Nowhere qualifies as least necessary of set, I'd say.

I was away from my desk for a few minutes, but I don't think there was room for anything between TR and SITN.

Agreed on Radio Nowhere, but I did enjoy hearing the clip of Born In East LA that led into it.
Let's get right to it.

Yah, Cheech and Chong rule.  And this IS the version of Because the Night.

I was on vacay in LA in the fall of '85 when I heard "Born in East LA" for the first time -- KROQ were playing it, like, 10 times a day.

I'd say the most famous (and best)  Bruce remake is this one here, Because The Night by Patti Smith.

Fully agree. And she doesn't mispronounce "deuce" in it either.

I was thinking the same thing, except I think it doesn't really qualify as a remake since it was co-written by Patti.  I'm not sure of the chronology of the releases, and I'm too lazy to look it up.  But yeah, Patti owns this like Jimi owns "All Along the Watchtower".

she's got a weird way of saying "as the sun descends", however. (Sun duss ends?)

Is this David Bowie doing "Growin' Up"?  Thin Lizzy?  Never heard this.

Brief search confirms Mr. Bowie.  It appears on the 30th anniversary edition of Diamond Dogs.  Yow!

right, I forgot that.  She's co-written some BÖC tunes, too, btw.  She used to date Allen Lanier.

I think you're right--it's Bowie. He covered it around the time of Young Americans, iirc.

I got a whiff of Thin Lizzy at first, too.  (If you know what I mean.)

also, "Counting With Bruce Springsteen" was brilliant.
