The Boomtown Rats don't like today, and I don't think too much of it either.  I missed Dire Straits,
and in general this set never strayed from well-trod ground.  1979 is one of those years that has
good potential to produce great set, but for my taste often fails to do so.  Today's high LNQ effort
fell far short.

"(Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman"
The Kinks

One of the many over-played, substandard, late-period Kinks' "hits."  Sigh...

When the Dead used to do this, fans posted it as "I Fought the Slaw" in set lists.

Funny, my pals and I used to refer to Friend of the Devil as "Friend of the Deli." "I'll have a plate o' pastrami and the corned beef's fine; a friend of the deli is a friend of mine..."
Let's get right to it.

Tie for BOS:

9. I Fought The Law - the Clash
10.I Don't Like Mondays - Boomtown Rats

Seems to be more grist for the theory that late-set songs are more likely to get BOS nods.

RR is taking requests for "end of the year" songs and "good-bye 2013" messages for tomorrow's
set.

list from GS-land:

Monday 12/30/13 1979
1. Fins - Jimmy Buffet
2. Havin' a party - Southside Johnny and the Asbury Dukes
3. Dire Straits - Once Upon a Time in the West
4. The Kinks - (Wish I could fly like) Superman
(TV - Diff'rent Strokes)
5. My Sharona - The Knack
6. It's All I Can Do - the Cars
7. Crawling From The Wreckage - Dave Edmunds
(News - Three Mile Island)
8. Run Like Hell - Pink Floyd
9. I Fought The Law - the Clash
10. I Don't Like Mondays - Boomtown Rats

The Southside tune was the only thing approaching a rarity, although I enjoyed nos. 3, 7 and 9, too. But for the most part, this was a typical Monday set in more ways than one.
Let's get right to it.

indeed - not sorry I missed. "Sharona" is THE cliché 1979 track.

While I can blame the GS or KFOG intern, I'm sorry.  I have edited the original list to also reflect "song title - artist" format.  I'm not really sure which order is right.

Not sure that there's a preferred order (artist-song title vs. song title-artist) but at least they should be consistent within one setlist. That was bugging the hell out of me re: the GS list yesterday.

I tend to put the song first, but yeah, consistency is what matters most. To this day I'm still not 100% certain if it's "One Love" by White Dove or "White Dove" by One Love.

I was just noting a correction for the "official record," not sourcing the error.

I don't think there's necessarily a "right" order, however for eleven years the set lists on the KFOG
web site have been listed in the "artist - song title" format.  This convention inexplicably reversed
in June 2013 and has been since followed by others.  It's just one more thing to edit before I add
set lists to my archives.  I've chosen to maintain format consistancy and correct errors over
preserving a record of what was posted on the 10@10 page.
