Do you have both the censored and uncensored versions? Because IMHO the bleeped version is funnier.

Since the Superb Owl was a stinker, here's my 4th visit to 1974:

 1. Professor Longhair - Rum And Coke
 2. Stevie Wonder - Birds Of Beauty
(Paul and Linda rehearse "Sally G" on piano)
 3. Paul McCartney and Wings - Sally G
 4. Steely Dan - With A Gun
 5. George Harrison - Dark Horse
(Commercial: Memorex featuring Ella Fitzgerald and Nelson Riddle)
 6. Chicago - Italian From New York
(TV: Midnight Special featuring Al Green)
 7. Al Green - The City
 8. Earth Quake - Friday On My Mind
 9. Jimmy Buffett - Brand New Country Star
(Commercial: The Rolling Stones It's Only Rock 'N Roll)
10. The Rolling Stones - Fingerprint File

https://soundcloud.com/capnjack-1/144-10-10-1974

Let me know what you think!

As usual, a very fun set. Particularly enjoyed the twangy twofer of Sally G and With A Gun. Fingerprint File is one I don't hear often enough -- has it ever made an appearance in an offical 10@10? Not in the Shraytabase period, but I don't recall if AL ever got around to it or not. The Earth Quake take on Friday On My Mind was a real sledgehammer, and 'Fess was the best TOTHK I've heard in a good while. The only negative was the Chicago tune, imo -- the synth squeaks and squawks are a jarring intro, and the rest of the tune just left me flat -- not one of their better ones. Now Mongonucleosis (which I recall you have included before) from the same album (VII)  is another matter.
Let's get right to it.

I'll have to agree with you.  I originally wanted to use "Mongonucleosis", but I didn't want to repeat using a tune I had used not too long ago (the reason why it didn't make the "strictly instrumental" set, fyi), so I settled on one of the shorter "jazz instrumentals" on VII.

Ha, I misread this and was scouring the web for a censored version of Blossom Dearie's song.  (sad trombone)

for the most part, haven't been fulfilled.  And don't let the 1997 date frighten you; have a listen -- this set
clocks in at just under forty minutes.  Let me know what you think!

I want to say AL played "Precious Little" as part of a 97 set (which was when I charted it).

AL played it once, much to the delight of radical347.
