There's a little cheating on my part.  Dave Edmunds version of "Girls Talk" was the first recorded version, but I included it here since I used Linda Ronstadt's cover in the 1980 set.  And Donny Hathaway's cover of "Never My Love" was recorded in 1973, but wasn't released until Record Store Day 2013.  With that said, enjoy the set!

mondegreens aplenty:  Tom Jones changes "zombie voodoo gris-gris" to "zombie voodoo people" and the 5-D change "my heart's inspiration" to "my-y inspiration". I'm sure the songwriters forgive them, since they got paid regardless.

The BOC was NTM -- interesting they covered that one before David Jo.

indeed -- NTM too, as was the Queen track.  Just a delightful set; my adoration for "Ariel" is well-documented. Ditto "Sub-Rosa Subway". And it's amazing that Billy Squier, who gave us so much generic AOR product in the early '80s, was responsible for a power-pop gem like "Who's Your Boyfriend".

This is a day early, but...

In honor of Halloween, it's Hits From Hell, featuring the voices of Dave Morey and Don Pardo.

This set was compiled from selections chosen by one Andy Rush.  Let me explain...

In the late '80s ('87-'89, to be precise), I would listen to the "Wax Museum" on 97.3 KRQR-FM, hosted
by said Andy Rush, which aired on the weekends.  He would play AOR cuts from '64 to '79.  In the middle
of this program, he set aside a few minutes for a feature called "Bad Wax".  He would choose a song
that he disliked (often a record he used to spin as a disc jockey in the '70s).  He would tell a story of
why he chose the song, and halfway through the song, he would "nuke" it (i.e. destroy the record on
air).  For this Hits From Hell, I selected ten records that were aired on "Bad Wax" (which I don't believe
were selected by DM for Hits From Hell).  I'll post the setlist on Halloween, as not to spoil it for you, if you
listen to it now:

So far, so good: I'm thinking Dave played the TO & Dawn tune at least once (I think he may have done a "career medley" of their hits, like he did for Manilow and Cher). Ditto the Sedaka, David Soul and Frankie Valli. OTOH, "Elusive Butterfly" is one of my favorite songs of all time (the late Scott Muni would've agreed with me). But "Stay Awhile" is truly one of my top 5 HFHs -- a horrid horrid song with horrid horrid vocals.

And I'd forgotten about that "Flower Children" thing -- good gawd. Marcia Strassman, aka Mrs Kotter on Welcome Back Kotter: every nice Jewish boy's dream wife.

Please!  I need the MP3 of the Strassman tune!  I've been looking for that for years for it, but unwilling to buy the whole damn CD I'd seen it on!
