8. Donna Summer - Could It Be Magic

the whole set was utterly fab from top to bottom, but lawd do I love Ms Summer -- the only person who could take a Barry Manilow song and make it GAYER.  And i love how she sings "could this be a magic" Say what?

ETA: actually I'd never heard the Chicago tune before. That would have to be the "Bottom", then.

Fresh off the presses... 2nd visit to 1981:

 4. The Rolling Stones - Heaven

https://soundcloud.com/capnjack-1/96-10-10-1981

Enjoy!

One of my favorite Stones songs, and one of the best uses of a phased guitar.

They set their phasers to stun.
Slipping into something
And out of something else

 3. David Ruffin - Walk Away From Love

Wow, I forgot about that one.  I've already done three '76 sets in a row -- I'm sure everyone wants me to choose different years... Perhaps a vertical tasting of cover versons?  :)

sounds like a plan!  (and Frankie V's and Rita C's versions of "All Alone" are a year apart so you could play both)
