3rd trip to 1972:

 1. Jefferson Airplane - Eat Starch Mom
 2. Hot Tuna - Sunny Day Strut
(TV: All In The Family)
 3. J.J. Cale - Bringing It Back (R.I.P. J.J. Cale)
 4. Al Green - Simply Beautiful
(News: John Lennon immigration battle)
 5. Tony Joe White - Even Trolls Love Rock And Roll
 6. Genesis - Horizons
(Commercial: Butterfinger sung by Minnie Riperton)
 7. Boz Scaggs - Dinah Flo (by request from urth)
(Movie: Last Tango In Paris)
 8. Chicago - Alma Mater
 9. The Allman Brothers Band - Les Brers In A Minor
10. Van Morrison - Listen To The Lion
(Renee sneaks in an extra track)
11. Steve & Eydie featuring The Osmonds - We Can Make It Together (R.I.P. Eydie Gormé)

https://soundcloud.com/retrocapnjack/79-10-10-1972

This set was inspired by Renee's recent 1970 set (the one that featured two instrumentals back to back:
Traffic "Glad" and Hot Tuna "Water Song").  Enjoy!

Finally had an afternoon at the computer so listened to this in short bursts. Thanks so much for the Dinah Flo--one of Boz's more underappreciated songs, imo. But I found a lot of other things to bite down on here, too--St. Dominic's Preview is probably my all-time fave Van record, so hearing Listen to the Lion was awesome (and I'll register a vote for Redwood Tree or Gypsy--or both--next time you get a chance to slip a Van song into a 72 set). Love Van's Marin County period, which I consider the most productive and profound of his career. Also dug Les Brers, a fave off of Eat a Peach that I haven't heard in a long time.  And as I have revealed elsewhere, I'm a Genesis head from way back, so Horizons also provided a nice flashback. Liked the JA/HT twofer, and the JJ Cale, although I can't say I knew any of those songs before this.

If you want to hear any of the older sets that you missed from a few weeks ago, let me know, and I can repost them for you.

3rd visit to 1987:

(TV: Fanclub - T'Pau interview)
 4. T'Pau - Heart And Soul

that clip of them calling their music "tough pop" was pretty hilarious considering how lightweight they actually were. LOL!

and that Monkees movie never did happen. Ahem.

Can we get Supper's Ready on your next channeling of 1972?  that would complete side two of Foxtrot. :)
Originally, I had intended to include Supper's Ready, but the set would have run close to 75 minutes, so I dropped it in favor of Steve Hackett's solo Horizons, but I will include it in the next '72 set!
cool beans.  I saw Genesis only once, in 1982 -- WELL after their prog heyday -- but they did Supper's Ready on that tour.  SCORE.

I saw them do Supper's Ready in the mid-70s when they were touring for Selling England by
the Pound
.  What with all the costume changes, it was certainly an eccentric performance
by Peter Gabriel.  I'm a little surprised they played it in their post-PG, post-prog incarnation.

 2. Henry Lee Summer - Hey Baby
 3. Neneh Cherry - Kisses In The Wind
(TV: The Arsenio Hall Show - Bobby Brown)
 4. Bobby Brown - Rock Wit'cha
(TV: Soul Train - New Edition)
 5. New Edition - Can You Stand The Rain
 6. Milli Vanilli - Blame It On The Rain
(TV: Wogan - Liza Minnelli and the Pet Shop Boys)
 7. Liza Minnelli - Twist In My Sobriety
 8. Martika - More Than You Know
(TV: Entertainment Tonight - Grayson Hugh)
 9. Grayson Hugh - Talk It Over
10. The Rolling Stones - Slipping Away

Tell us how you really feel...  :o

Seriously, great reply.  I don't often follow up on listening to these, mainly because they want me to work when I'm at work, and I don't like to turn my computer on when I'm not at work.  But it is great to see Cap Jacks' efforts, and the appreciation they get.

could not get the 2 most recent ones to play; not sure if that "you're using an old version of SoundCloud" mesaage is the reason; it's been there for a while and I haven't had a problem before.

had not heard that entire John Denver opus in decades. Quite lovely and sweet.

JT thinks he's a chili dog. No wonder he ended up showering the people.
