Love the vintage bumpers in this one!

#6: A great pop hit, but probably the most sexist, misogynistic song ever to hit #1.

#9. Whoa! I know well the Eddie Holman take on this song from the male POV, but I had no idea there was a distaff version that came before. Very cool!

Overall a really nice compilation of pre-British Invasion pop hits. Particular props for the Sam Cooke, Connie Francis, Patsy Cline, and Peggy Lee.

Had not heard "Suite for 20G" in a loooong time. Loved it when it was an FM staple that year. Still lovely.

And of course I adore Dusty's "Brand New Me" (and Ree-Ree's cover of it too). The Blossom Dearie song about Dusty is a gem.

That Sonny Curtis song is so pretty..  it's rare that you hear the full version.  Now that I hear it, it's no wonder they excised that bit for the Mary Tyler Moore show theme:

This one had some things I really liked and a few that were just the opposite. LOVED that you led off with Bobby Jean, which has long been my pick for the best track on BITUSA--I've always wish Dave/AL/whoever would include it in more 10@10s on air. Liked the Style Council cut, and was surprised that while I remember liking Tina's take on I Can't Stand the Rain back when it was current, now it sounds really dated and I prefer Ann Peebles' original. Speaking of dated, that Alan Thicke song was hideous -- all that was bad about music in 84 packed into one song.

The JJ track was interesting although I can't recall it from back when, and the Mats song is a longtime fave too.

Great clips as ever. Dug the Hoffmans' Grill piece, for entirely self-serving reasons -- that's my last name, but I had no inkling about the grill that preceded me. Also liked hearing that Kate and Allie bit--haven't thought about that show in ages, although I remember liking it when it aired. Whatever happened to Susan Saint James anyway?

Thanks, I know how late '80s/'90s KFOG sets aren't well-regarded, so I take special care in crafting them.

I take my hat off to you for finding all these versions.  I didn't recognize the Major Lance version, so either it's just my old brain (likely) or one of those re-recorded things!  Dug the Ruby and the Romantics track!

Every week I scrape the 10@10 set lists off the KFOG site and add them to a text file for the year.

The same attention to detail that brought us the two 1993 sets within days is also being shown
by whatever primate posts those lists.  It's gotten noticeably bad in the past couple of weeks.
Set lists not posted until days later, song title first instead of artist name, ALL CAPS, speeling errars,
and all matter of other formatting irregularities.  All this in addition to the continued lack of the
BOS designation.  I expect to do a little cleanup to maintain a consistent format, but it's taken
a marked turn for the worse.
