Okay, this 1974 set is fresh off the editing block:

listening now. This Chicago track is a lost gem. And of course the Lamont Dozier is a longtime fave of mine. "Tricky Dick! Stop yo' S**T!"

Damn, never knew that Macca/Peggy Lee story -- lovely tune.

The Richie Havens was NTM -- oddly, since WNEW-FM were huge supporters of his (Pete Fornatale would *always* play a new Richie LP) but I don't recall hearing that one.

and some genius segues, man.

I'm trying to shine a light on some of those Terry Kath-led Chicago tracks.

The Peggy Lee song was the title track of her Atlantic Records debut (after leaving Capitol for the 2nd time).  Unfortunately, neither the single nor the album charted (actually, the album bubbled under at #209 on the Billboard albums chart).

The Richie Havens track was taken from his Mixed Bag II, which he had offered on his website prior to his passing.

Glad you liked those segues -- had loads of fun editing them together!

Originally I was going to edit out the swearing in the Reservoir Dogs dialogue (which is simple enough to do), but I decided to leave it be.  You have been warned.  ;)

Enjoy!

Hey, I love what you've been doing but can you give us a few days to catch up?  I haven't heard either of the two that are up right now, nor the 89 set. Two or three a week is about my limit right now, unless we can find someplace where you can post more than two at a time.

Have you listened to either the 92 or 74 sets yet?  If so, I'll reupload 89 and/or 71 (and maybe a new one).  Let me know.

Yes, listened to both of them yesterday--I will try to remember to give the high sign once I've done so next time.

I think the only song in the 92 set that I'd heard before was the Lyle Lovett.
Let's get right to it.

OMFG: half my '88 "wish list" is here. I requested the Lita Ford and Joan Jett tunes from AL and suggested it would make a great "former Runaways twin-spin" but she only played JJ.

"Perfect" -- a UK #1 -- is one of my favorite '80s shouldabeens (later a country hit for Baillie & the Boys, amazingly). The Zevon LP was great. And the Bangles were idiots for turning down "Balloon Man".

ETA: this was truly spectacular, and proof that those boring late-'80s years do not have to be.

Listened to both of these this afternoon. Really liked the '77 set; goes to show that there are some good songs in that year--we just don't often hear any on the current iteration of 10@10. (Really, only AL was able to consistently come up with interesting sets from 77-78. Dave for some reason like to hit the dross in those years almost as much as RR/DC do.)
Let's get right to it.

My 1978 set:

loving this one. that segue from WKRP to "Lotta Love" was Morey-worthy.

And I surely had not heard that Elvis C tune in a dog's age. "I don't want you walkin' 'round with physical jerks". Heh.

Time to re-visit the Rutles, methinks.

Boy, was Dan Quayle a bonehead.

Really nice set--far better than most 88 sets we've heard "officially." Particular props for the Zevon tune, the Runaways twin-spin, and the great audio clips. Shirley MacLaine taking the piss out of Letterman was great, and I liked hearing Roy Orbison's comments on the Wilburys.
