Near the end of the Dead's career, they did this song, as an encore.  Deadheads didn't like it very much and referred to it as "I Fought the Slaw"

Vell...contrary to some impressions of Deadheads, they are not (at least not all of them) mindless drones who will slop up anything they are served.  This was usually pretty much of an encore throwaway, and the fans wanted something better I imagine.
