Very unusual Doors choice: "Runnin' Blues" -- haven't heard this in a few years.  Another case where I like the horns better than the band did.

Yikes! Crow... twice in a week.

Gaz, the non-Motown Motown set is another one that Dave needs to do someday.
1. Flirtations, "Nothin' But a Heartache"
2. Dells, "There Is"
3. Platters, "With This Ring" (best non-Four Tops Four Tops ever)

More?
Billy Ocean, "Love Really Hurts w/out You"
"River Deep, Mountain High" qualifies, no?

I thought the opening guitar chords we heard the other day for the Stones "Monkey Man" were pure Motown.

Good calls, both.  Also, Edwin Starr's "S.O.S. (Stop Her on Sight)," which I'm pretty sure was issued on an indie and directly led to Motown snapping him up.

I idolized them for the first two albums, then kind of felt they got burned out after the third album. Kinda lost track.

The Who: another band that, like the Police, seem to have gotten a resurgence from oldies DJs across the board in response to JACK stations playing the fuck out of them.

Yeah, you really have to buy into the Morrison Mystique (tm) to listen to the whole Soft Parade or Morrison Hotel albums on a regular basis.  The wheat-to-chaff radio got dangerously bad for them.

I will never tire of the Who, especially anything prior to 1980.  Tommy is still brilliant, I just recently got the SACD reissue.

Do you have an SACD system?  If so, how does it sound?

I only own one album in SACD, and y'all would NOT guess what it is.
