**Wednesday (February 22): tonight's connection is SPACE
Suggest your favorite fat-related [sic] tracks; you could win a DVD copy of the new U2 documentary, "From the Sky Down."

Someone at KFOG dot com had a copy and paste oops. Haven't checked the KFOG Radio page, but I'd be willing to wager someone has already thrown out Space Oddity. Great song, but still . . . [ETA: DB did qualify her Bowie request with "Someone has to say it"] The only other "song" springing to mind right away is Sun Ra's Space Is the Place [ETA: sprang to ggould's mind too].

Recent KFOG Connected Playlists

February 21: Fat
"Fat Man in the Bathtub," Little Feat
"Fat Man," Jethro Tull
"You're the One for Me, Fatty," Morrissey
"Fat Bottomed Girls," Queen
(bonus Fat track) "Fat," Violent Femmes

Excellent call, gentlemen. If that one doesn't register, there's another Sun Ra tune called "We Travel the Spaceways" that might fill the bill. That Sun Ra liked his space, but when you're from Saturn, what else is there?
Let's get right to it.

Did anyone listen tonight? Only one song registered on the tunegenie, which is probably a good thing.

I did not listen, but I can actually come up with a lot of space songs -- off the top of my head:
Kahoutek, Journey (when they were good)
Space Baby, The Tubes
Space Station #5, Montrose
Space Truckin', Deep Purple

I remember the band from its cult rediscovery (?) in the 80s.  Didn't they play a Theramin?

Flash Bazbo, Space Explorer: The Adventure Continues
Capsule In Space by John Barry (007- Moonraker)
Spaceman_On_The_Schoolyard  by Pizzicato Five

these, of course, are Nat'l Lampoon Radio Hour comedy bits that Dave Morey used to feature on 10@10 in whatever year that was ('73? '74?).

"Well cut off my legs and call me Shorty!  Who's this over here?"

"Uh, Hellooo?"

so stupid, so funny.

PS: Christopher Guest was the voice of Flash.  He just rambled and mumbled and I often quote soem of his quips.

I posted a late suggestion for Mink DeVille's Spanish Stroll, and Dred fired back a response that it was one of the tunes he played. Good man, that one.
Let's get right to it.

funny, I just saw a post on the "Bring Back the Marathon" FB page from December -- a guy was complaining about the music played "around 8pm" that "doesn't belong on KFOG outside of 10@10". Guess he's not a Dred fan.

I shot my wad with Deep Purple's Woman from Tokyo on FB before thinking of two songs from Urge Overkill, Vacation in Tokyo and Sister Havana. They were one of my favorite bands of the time (early '90's) and put on a GREAT live show (Hollywood Palladium, 1994, in my case). I wouldn't be surprised to hear Sister Havana or Woman from Tokyo, for that matter (and off we go . . .  ETA: and there's your song!)

From fb:

KFOG Radio
Dred sez: tonight at 8 on KFOG Connected, our connection will be FRUITS & VEGETABLES. Win tix for Counting Crows at the Fox!

That should be Fruits and root vegetables, dammit.
