the kfog tune genie revels they played:

8:12 Grateful Dead Golden Road to Unlimited Devotion
8:14 Pixies Monkey Gone to Heaven

seems like we're missing a couple songs, and the times are off: The Pixies song must be more than 2 minutes.
Is there any Dead tune 2 min or less? Don't think so.

oops, yes, that's what I meant, the Dead song has to be more than two minutes -- why, it takes that long for Phil to find his Zone!

Actually, Golden Road... is just barely over 2 minutes. 2:07, to be exact. It's the opening track on their eponymous first album. And there's a shorter song on that album--Sitting on Top of the World at 2:01. Safe to say the live versions were not so brief, nor probably any song on any other record.

Sounds like Dred may be a bit of a Kinks fan. That's at least the second fairly obscure Kinks tune he's pulled out for Connected in the last few weeks.

Dred sez: talk is cheap (especially for DJs), so tonight at 8 pm on KFOG Connected, our connection will be...ACTION!

Hmm.  This was the first thing that came to my mind:

There's also "Shake Some Action" by The Flaming Groovies.  Nice power pop tune!

Dred sez: the countdown to the weekend has begun, so tonight at 8 pm on KFOG Connected, our connection will be...COUNTING

First song that came to mind was "Counting Backwards" by Throwing Muses.  Lots of good suggestions on the KFOG page.

Do the songs have to have "Counting" in the title, or is a lyric by that word sufficient?

It doesn't have to have the actual word, but at least something related to the subject.

Beatles - "All Together Now"
Proxy of RG: Tom Robinson Band - "2-4-6-8 Motorway".  Haay!
Genesis - "Counting Out Time"  NTM...and not bad!
XTC - "(1,2,3,4,5) Senses Working Overtime"

Oops dead air. 1,2,3,4,5.............

November 3: Action!
"Shake Some Action," Flamin' Groovies
"Action," Sweet
"Let's See Action," Pete Townshend

November 2: Gone
"Places That Are Gone," Tommy Keene
"Gone Ridin'," Chris Isaak
"Golden Road (to Unlimited Devotion)," Grateful Dead
"Monkey Gone to Heaven," The Pixies

As always, Dred's choices are well-rounded and full of surprises.......

Dred sez: it's the beginning of another work week, when working people build stuff. So tonight at 8 pm on KFOG Connected, our connection will be... CONSTRUCTION.

Suggest your favorite songs about building things, etc.; you could win tickets to see B.B. King at the Paramount Theater in Oakland.

I'm too tired to think......

Divine Hammer - The Breeders!

Divine Hammer - The Breeders!

Elvis Costello, "Shipbuilding"
Don Henley's "Bulding the Perfect Beast" would work (and be one of the underplayed cuts from that LP to boot)

But PUH-LEEZE: no "Building a Mystery" from Sarah McLesbian.

1. Stan Ridgway - Pile Driver  (very nice)
2. Bruce Springsteen - Working on the Highway
3. Tom Waits -  What's He Building?  (wow!)
4. Elvis Costello - Shipbuilding

P.S.: Dred offered me tix on this one, but he didn't play any of my suggestions (Todd Rundgren/Utopia: Hammer in My Heart, Want Of A Nail and The Strawbs: I'm a Union Man)

BB King at the Paramount - it's the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.  I've seen BB back when he was a young and spry 65 year old or so. hmmm...
