The former Yankees pitcher, in an apparent suicide.  Yikes.

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/29/sports/baseball/ex-yankee-hideki-irabu-is-dead-at-42.html

When the Yankees first brought him in, they had him pitch for their triple A team (Columbus?).  He pitched in Rochester, NY, against the mighty Red Wings back in ...  2000?  The game sold out, and my bother was there.  He said that Irabu let loose with a wild pitch at one point, and my bro yelled "Hit The Deck-i!"  I don't think else anyone laughed, but my brother still gets a kick out of it.

RIP

wasn't there a long article in the NYT the other day about another Japanese pitcher who failed spectacularly as a Yankee? He lives in New Jersey, I think. Odd timing.
