They charge season ticket holders full price for preseason games

I never knew this!

Likewise the Giants for the preseason games that are played at Mays Field. Spring training games are less, I think.
Let's get right to it.

One of the wilder sports-related stories of late:

http://outsports.com/jocktalkblog/2009/03/30/pirates-prospect-has-a-crazy-wife/

Funny, but it doesn't mention if he's seeking a divorce or not.
Let's get right to it.

Nice story about the Cubs playing the first exhibition game at "new" Yankee Stadium tonite.  Apparently the Yanks specifically requested the Cubs because they wanted Lou Pinella to be part of the festivities. Which is cool, and a step up, considering how they snubbed Joe Torre last year during the "farewell" hoo-hah at "old" YS.

Raiders sign Jeff Garcia. No, really -- April Fool's was *last* week.

It'll certainly make me watch more Raider games, if Garcia plays.  [sorry Rod!]

the new yankee Stadium looks awesome.  I hope to check it out one day when I cash out what's left of my 401k.  Ticket prices seem crazy high, but this video propaganda shows they did a nice job w the fan experience -- if that fan can pay, of course:

for Better or Worse, the Yankess are like my first big league team: my father grew up a Yankee fan back when Murderer's Row had a diff meaning in the Bronx, and he took my Mom to see Maris hit #61.  My first big league game was at Yankee Stadium where I saw the Red Sox lose, of course.  heh heh.

My friend Will drove us up to Boston for our fantasy baseball draft last weekend.  We drove past the new Yankee Stadium, and Will, who's a Yanks fan, loved it: "Other teams don't have a payroll," he gloated.  "We put our name on the stadium in fucking gold."

evil team. evil fans.

My old friend Lori, a lefty/feminist/big-corporations-are-evil type, is a Yankees season ticket holder -- tried to give her the "Yankees are the rich/evil/Republican/Rudy Giuliani team" argument but she wasn't having it.

I guess this as good a place as any for this:

John Madden is giving up the microphone. He's retiring.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/John-Madden-retires-from-NBC-after-29-seasons-in?urn=nfl,156802

Cris Collinsworth will be taking his place.
Let's get right to it.
