I was listening to CG (great double play: Wizzard's "See My baby Jive" followed by Mental As Anything, "Live it Up") and reading the NY Radio Message Board and came across this link:

http://www.capitalradio.us/

No relation to CG whatsover, this is an American Oldies stream from Connecticut -- first song I hear upon logging on is "Toast & Marmalade" by Tin Tin, followed by Roger Miller, "King of the Road". I'm impressed!  Giving this a shot for awhile.

ETA: here's the last 9 songs as of 12:55pm

San Franciscan Nights - Animals
Easy Come, Easy Go - Sherman, Bobby
I'm A Boy - Who
Lalena - Donovan
Time Out Of Mind - Steely Dan
King Of The Road - Miller, Roger
Toast and Marmalade 4 Tea - Tin Tin
Rock And Roll Heaven - Righteous Bros
Rainy Day Women  -  Dylan
Keep On Loving You - Reo Speedwagon

Take THAT, Jack!

couldn't get onto capitalradio.us (their stream has limited access, apparently) so I'm WLNG-ing... in the past hour I've heard "Billy Don't Be A Hero", "Playgound in My Mind" and Bobby Vinton's "Melody of Love" (the only partially Polish Top 20 hit in chart history!).  This is either great cheeze or a HFH-fest, depending on yer POV. But the jingles make it all worthwhile.

"My Melody of Love" is one of the first songs I can recall hearing.  It was huge in Pittsburgh, natch (large Polish population, plus he was a native: my mother recalls dancing with him at a club once).  A guilty pleasure, to be sure (as opposed to "Playground," which is no pleasure of any sort).

Now listening to CG, just 'cuz I haven't in a long time.  Went from "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" to "Good Morning Starshine."  Wish it were Friday.
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

I wanted that song to be played on May 7, for geeky reasons.

Listening to trad Top 40 today -- I have some current hits to catch up on.

Best Spanky & Our Gang mimicry ever.

No need to start a new thread, as I may not post again today, but on CG: John Holt (?) doing a reggaefied "Help Me Make it Thru the Night" from (sez Dean) 1974.

CG is having a "Queen Weekend". That's funny, we're having that in SF too...
