« on: June 25, 2009, 02:57:44 PM »
Heart attack, just heard the news.

"Pop star Michael Jackson has been rushed to a Los Angeles-area hospital by fire department paramedics who found him not breathing when they arrived at the singer's home, the Los Angeles Times reported on Thursday.

The newspaper said paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation at the scene before taking him to the UCLA Medical Center hospital."

This is freaky: I was at the gym, running to the J5's "One More Chance," when a friend texted me this news.  CNN.com isn't calling him dead yet, fwiw.
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

A friend just posted this on Facebook:

"Los Angeles elementary schools will be closed tomorrow so that Michael Jackson's ex boyfriends can mourn."

wow, this is sad.  After the initial "whoa, what a freak!" phase I felt about him and his weird proclivities, I began to see him as a sorry figure.

Just did a scan of the radio dial: KPOO (of course) was in full-on all-Michael mode, and Movin' 99.7, KBLX and KMEL were all doing tributes.

Well, Sky Saxon. So does that mean there's two more to go?

Weird. Just weird. I escaped the news until about 7pm tonight when we went into a local restaurant to get dinner after working a farmers' market all afternoon. They had Faux News on (that's my new hometown for ya) and that's where I saw the headlines.

Hope he finally finds some peace in the afterlife. I imagine his soul was pretty tortured in this one.
Let's get right to it.

At 4pm both alternative stations, Live 105 & Channel 104.9, were playing MJ tunes ("Smooth Criminal" & "Beat It" respectively).

98.1 KISS is playing "Human Nature," one of the best cuts from Thriller.  I also like the perennial wedding fave "Wanna Be Startin' something" -- ah hell, that whole album is great.

I'll be surprised and amazed (and disappointed) if AL does not include some MJ in tomorrow's 10at10 set.  I'll melt, like hot candle wax.

OK, but if she was planning a Pride set for tomorrow, what song from his catalog would fit in?

She was planning a Pride set as of about 4 minutes before I heard the news about MJ.  See my post in the Executive thread.
