1 June 2009: the Annalisa era begins in... 1995
« on: May 30, 2009, 09:13:47 AM »
Just heard a promo in which she gave these hints: "the year Will Ferrell joined SNL and the year OJ got off".

One thing we can pretty much count on for every year is that we'll hear a lot of songs Dave would never play (perhaps, at long last, Baby Got Back?) and we may never again hear nuggets that Dave held particularly dear (say, Message To My Girl). I just hope Annalisa is as willing to go back into the 60s as Dave was, and doesn't overdo the late 80s and 90s.

And with Annalisa asking for suggestions, this may be our chance to finally hear those songs we've always longed for. Mike, you may now start lobbying for "When Smokey Sings."
Let's get right to it.

LOL!  I note that the Foghead email made mention of "the '60s to today" -- hope that doesn't mean we're gonna get sets from the '00s. I'm willing to give Annalisa the benefit of the doubt, but unlike Dave I'm SURE she will NOT have "complete creative control" -- management will not be letting her play whatever pops into her head a la Morey, methinks.

Expect that you're right. It's a feather in her cap that they gave her the reins to the station's signature franchise show, but I'd guess she will have to focus mostly on the years they'd prefer, rather than whatever she feels like.

Still wish those front-office weasels had kicked down the cash and Dave were producing new sets. But as they say, if wishes were horses...
Let's get right to it.

I was a little worried this morning when the server was down on the re-opening day.  I'll try to catch the beginning before class starts.  Enjoy!

Interesting start - a Foo Fighters song I've never heard before.  I wonder what, if any, rules she has for inclusion.

Interesting debut: Foo Fighters, "This Is a Call."
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

Well, we're off, you know....

Not too bad a start with the Foo Fighters, particularly since this is sort of a 95 sledgehammer for me.

it's a song I'm guessing Live 105 was playing in '95... but KFOG certainly wasn't.

"wowee wow wow" explained Annalisa as she launched into her first 10@10.

Digging this Foo Fighters song.

I think this whole set is poised to be Live 105-worthy.  Dave played HMTMKMKM once or twice, no?
