The Sound (LA), 4/10/09: 1981
« on: April 10, 2009, 11:41:33 AM »
Spirits in the Material World - Police
Bad Reputation - Joan Jett
I Missed Again - Phil Collins
The Waiting - Tom Petty
Trouble - Lindsay Buckingham
Message of Love - Pretenders
Harden My Heart - Quarterflash
Mercury Blues - David Lindley
Edge of Seventeen - Stevie Nicks
Ah Leah - Donnie Iris

Not that '69 woulda been worth missing for the above, mostly-Moreyish set, but kudos for playing Joan Jett's "Bad Reputation", from her terrific first (pre-"ILRnR") LP.
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round

Yep, and ditto for Lindsay B's Trouble.
Let's get right to it.

I'm rawking out to this set right now!   I'm liking what I hear, mostly, but of course the Goat can go, and that's some weak-ass Phil Collins ya got there, Larry Morgan.  Also a big yawn on Quarterflash, which always struck me as the way crappier version of the Motels.

Bwahahaha! Donnie should hook up with the Knack's "Sharona" -- she's in LA real estate.

W.T.F.F.

Is that for real?! Yikes.

As an aside: another major pet peeve of mine is vanity phone numbers that have more than 7 characters to them.  1-877-DonnieIris is not acceptable.  1-877-Donnie-I would be fine.  Thank you.

PS: The most egregious such phone # I've seen in a NYC subway ad: 1-800-IMMIGRATION.  The most obnoxious: 1-800-MARGARITA (a bail-bond service targeting the Latino community, no joke)
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”
