Larry the deejay reveals he's from Odessa, Texas, and reminisces about our next tune being a super fine roller rink number.

Climax Blue Band Couldn't Get It Right.

I nearly died from hospitality is such a great line.

WOS to the Sex Pistols.

But they're the Monkees of punk!

I'd BOS it for rarity and for historical noteworthiness.

ooh, sorry to miss Beth.  here's Neil Young and Stephen Stills Long May You Run.

In 1976, and for most of the rest of my teens I was carrying a torch for a girl named Beth.  Actually for most of my life.

I once tried to convince my brother that "Carry On, Wayward Son" had been written about former Mets outfielder Rick Mark Carreon.

Wow, I'd never have guessed. One of Sarah's best friends (and an ex-roommate) is from Midland-Odessa. She moved to SF in the late 70s, but she still sounds like she's just off the bus from Texas.
Let's get right to it.

"...and if I claim to be a wise man, it surely means that I don't know."

That line was emblematic of my developing distrust for authority at that time (I turned 13 that year), especially my father's authority.

A mutual Stanford friend of Dave's and mine was from Odessa.  She was in the Stanford band with Dave & my brother, and right after she graduated we had a bit of a fling.

Or was in Lubbock? 22 yrs ago, jeez!
