the Drive's Deep Tracks are my only non-blocked option this morning; they're as good as I remembered. Here's JS's "St Charles".

Wow, I haven't listened to DT in ages ... and "St. Charles" is one of my favorite JS tunes.

I hadn't listened to them for a long time either -- they seem to have jocks on the stream now, at least someone was there today talking about the inauguration, so it appeared current.

The mighty 'berries "Overnight Sensation", followed by 3DN's "Out in the Country" is a segue I can believe in.

'LNG plays the Etta James orig of "At Last" -- tho' Beyonce did a fine version last nite.  I love that it was B & O's song thoughout the evening, and a not-so-subtle way of saying "Finally -- he's president!".

The Technicolor Web Of Sound (awesome psych/garage online station at http://techwebsound.com,  also findable on itunes Radio tab under ClassicRock at the moment) just played an interesting one: The Purge's "The Mayor of Simpleton Hall."  Kinda a shuffly jangly guitar ditty, but the title was what jumped out at me.  I'm not a huge STC fan, but everyone knows their song, and this one must be related.

but now you're feelin' cocky"

'LNG plays a fave '80s nugget, Matthew Wilder's "Break My Stride" -- one you'd think would be a Morey fave but sadly, no.

Spanky and Our Gang would like to get to know you. They had some lovely stuff, considering what a blatant copy of the Mamas & Papas they were, "fat chick" singer and everything.

Holy crap -- I switched over to KCDX for a bit and here's King Crimson's "Epitaph" -- I surely have not heard this since 1969.

Did you find that station on your own?  I used to be a huge fan of it, but it's fallen off my radar in recent months.  But yes, I've heard that "Simpleton" song and wondered about the common origin as well.

'LNG Nugget of the Day: The Stylistics' lovely forgotten 1973 cover of Dionne W's "You'll Never Get to Heaven".

ETA: followed ny Nugget #2: David Cassidy's "Could it Be Forever". No, David -- you're not wrong to have these, er, feelings.

Supertramp? "My Kinda Lady"? this is totally NTM -- when was this a hit?

ETA -- they said it was a "minor hit" in '83 -- I swear I'd never heard it before. I was just thinking that for as (too) often as we hear the obvious stuff ("Breakfast" et al) we never hear "It's Raining Again" which *was* a decent-sized hit.

O.M.F.G.

Does not begin to describe this song Barry Scott's playing right now: a terrible lisping CB jockey - "CB Savage."  WTFF.
