And the princess wins the "start the thread" derby by a nose!

(Explanation: Both Mike and I started threads as well, but hers was first on the board. Mine's now mere dust in the ether.)

BOS to "True Faith."  '87 got no better than this.  I remember very vividly hearing the song for the first time by seeing the video right before I left for bowling (I was in a weekly Sunday league, duckpin-styley).
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

And possibly a little dig from DM by way of Crowded House? I don't remember hearing the clip with Downtown Julie Brown before (assuming it's an MTV Vid award snippet).
Let's get right to it.

Overplayed though it is, "Don't Dream It's Over" remains something of a sledgehammer for me: I was a Pgh finalist in the Scripps-Howard spelling bee that year, and heard this song 3 times on the way to the finals.  (Some consolation for me: the girl who won ultimately won the whole shebang.)

And since someone's gonna ask: I was eliminated on throstle, which apparently is something one does to wheat.

And since someone's gonna ask: I lost on throstle, which apparently is something one does to wheat.

If it makes you feel any better, I have never seen that word before this very moment.

you were throttled by throstle.

"DDIO" is a great single, one of my 10 best that year , but KFOG has ruined it for me.
