Oop, makin' up time from the cueing mistake by skipping S&G's "My Little Town" and O'Jays "I Love Music" to jump to #11, "Our Day Will Come" Frankie Valli.
oh well, never was a fan of My Little Town anyway.
We heard it last month anyway when they aired 11-8-75 countdown.
Did Casey just give it away when he said that in some TV show he "plays the part of a conniving DJ who gets killed in the end"?

Casey, wtf...?

he was in a made for tv movie called "Mr. & Ms. and the Bandstand Mystery" and he tells us they filmed it in the actual American Bandstand set -- "At least the part where my character gets killed..."

maybe he gets pushed off one of the featured dancer risers...??

ponderous.

heh, I know!  then again, if it was a murder mystery movie, the process of solving the crime is the major plot -- think Colombo, McMillan and Wife,.

the chico oldies station stream seems to have stopped for me, in the middle of Diana Ross' "THEME FROM MAHAGONY (DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU’RE GOING TO).”   I'll prob bail on this and may listen to some other stream this weekend.

too bad, I like that song...

Hmmm, odd. Were you listening for two hours where you have to hit pop-up to continue stream?  Anyway, after #3 Fly Robin Fly, he threw in Jose F's "Feliz Navidad"

Stream finished out just fine for me - though I'm sorry to have missed the O'Jays' "I Love Music," which for my money invented the house genre.

And I had the same reaction about Casey's spoiler!  I imagine the show was about on par with "Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park."

BOS1 to "Winners & Losers," which I had stuck in my head for a large portion of my SF vacation.

I always thought they should've pronounced it "Winners & Woozers", for consistency's sake if nothing else.

Casey's '80s take us to 1987, where Whitney Houston ("So Emotional") is trying to dislodge George Michael ("Faith") from the throne.  Debuting at 40 - "the first all-female rap hit," sez Casey - Salt-N-Pepa's "Push It."

One of the very best collaborations of the decade is in at 39: PSB and Dusty, "What Have I Done to Deserve This?"  (Two songs dropped out that I would have enjoyed hearing, though: Stevie Wonder's "Skeletons" and the Jets' "I Do U.")

Nothing in this set should be NTM, but I don't remember "Motortown" by the Kane Gang at all.

I *love* that record and still own the 45.

Heard the '75 show this morning -- the Idaho station always lets the closing theme run out to the very end, and I'd forgotten Casey's mid-'70s theme music with the flute solo (!) and the chorus suddenly punctuating things by blurting out "Shaka-TOO!" I mean.. HUH?

And although the crowd singing along at the end is supposed to be rowdy truckers, they sound a whole lot more like Muppets.

ROTFL -- i just heard the song again -- The Muppets description is perfect!

Awesome -- it's the Top 40 Singles of the YEAR for 1971! This was before Casey started doing 2-part "Top 80" or "Top 100" year-enders. Too bad they don't replay his "Top 40 Xmas Songs" countdowns (he did several of those in the '70s).

Chico is replaying a '77 set from a few weeks ago.  Ah well.
