Hoping I might catch the '72 set at 11:00 but meanwhile the first hour of '83 is on.

WOS1 Night Ranger; BOS1 ABC.

WOS2 ONJ's "Tied Up". She should be.

Supertramp's "My Kind of Lady" is forgotten with good reason. Damn, this thing is loooong.

Good gawd: Pia Zadora doing "The Clapping Song".  Words fail me.

This is turning into an hour from hell: Neil Diamond's "I'm Alive" followed by Steel Breeze "Dreamin' is Easy"

Yay! Iowa's KMCH is doing '72. Instant BOS1 to my beloved Detroit Emeralds, "You Want It, You Got It"

Melanie's forgotten "Ring the Living Bell" gets BOS2.

Mr Simon samples the Chinese menu.

uber-uber-BOS3 the English Congregation. Fabulous.

BOS4 Bobby W -- dat's da way he feel about'cha!

Ay! que FIEVRE!  Chakachas always a treat.

Donnie Elbert goes to the Motown well 2 times too many. Understandin' sho' is mellow, yo.  VHM Butler/Eager.

Grand Funk stomp they feets. And earn WOS1. BOS5 Charley Pride with a certified country classic.

Casey highlights "Scorpio" (BOS6) with this great trivia tidbit: Dennis Coffey was involved with the production of 11 singles that were simultaneously on the Hot 100 chart in June 1971.  Someone on the AT40 geek board suggests there's gotta be a similar factoid involving James Jameson in the '60s.

Hour 2: Neil leads with his "Heart".

TANC: I heard Boz Scaggs' cover of "Drowning in the Sea of Love" earlier today; here's Joe Simon's original. BOS7.

BOS8 the post-Diana Supes, "Floy Joy". Forgot that this was a Smokey R production.

VHM Wilson Pickett covering Free's "Fire & Water"; BOS9 the BeeGees' lovely, forgotten "My World"

uber-uber-BOS10 Cher "The Way of Love"

VHM Little Beaver's fab gee-tar riff on "Clean-Up Woman"

Let's go upstairs and read Rod's PowerPoint!

BOS11 Beverly Bremers

Percy meets a flaming horde. or a flaming whore. or something.

Melanie encores; Carly anticipates; Ms King gets a BOS12 for "Sweet Seasons"

Sentimental BOS13 Bread's "Everything I Own", David Gates' lovely tribute to his late dad. I've liked every cover version of this song I've ever heard (Boy George, for one example). OTOH... WOS2 Robert John with one of the least-necessary covers ever.

VHM "Joy". I'm feeling joy that we're getting a shortened version of "American Pie".

Merrill and Donny are yelling and screaming by the lazy river. Try, um, singing, guys.

(another faboo chart featuring some of my all-time-fave forgotten 45s)

And Casey's '80s visits March 1st 1980:

Part of Casey's plan: Dan Fogelberg to start.

BOS1 Ms Reddy's fabulous "Emotion". The long version, too!  And TANC, here's Sammy Johns, who we just found out died in January.

BOS2 George MacCrae, gettin' lifted -- this deserved much better than its #37 peak

Nuthin' like a Saturday morning BJ: Mr Thomas does somebody wrong in a song.

Neil D gets all philosophical on yo' ass. Another song we're hearing the week of its Billboard peak position (#34).

Mmmmm... disco cheeze at its finest: "Doctor's Orders" BOS3. "ah KNOW you got lotsa things on yo' MIND"

BOS4 TO & Dawn's "Look In My Eyes Pretty Woman" -- one of their most underrated singles.

Casey goes with Ringo's "Snookeroo", the B-side of "No No Song". VHM.

VHM David Gates "Never Let Her Go", very Bread-like.

TANC: Bread once had a hit called "Sweet Surrender, and here's John Denver -- same title, diff tune. VHM.

Hour 2: the Jacksons sprinkle themselves around you. er... ewww.  Points deducted for the edited version.

uber-uber BOS5 "Sad Sweet Dreamer" -- ooh wah wah ooh wah wah ooh!

Sorry, Elvis -- Richard Harris' original of "My Boy" remains the best version.

BOS6 Al Martino with MOR cheeze par excellence.

BOS7 Polly Brown in a puff of smoke.

BadCo head across the Golden Gate.

Casey plays a snippet of Betty Everett's "You're No Good" before the Ronstadt version.

BOS8 BTO, rollin' on down

Ah! böwakawa poussé, poussé

Ms Muldaur brings home bacon, fries it up in da pan.

BOS9 Ms King's forgotten "Nightingale"

Free yo' Lady Marmalade!

AWB sing about that book they advertise in the back pages of Playboy: "How to Pick Up Pieces"

WOS Grand Funk Railroad -- nice piece by Casey reminding us that rock critics *HATED* GFR.

My Eyes Adored You... but my nose abhorred you.

Casey's '80s visits March 1st 1980:

http://www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/03-01-80.pdf

Seger heads to Fire Lake to cut the cake. It's a mistake.

VHM Ms Midler's Percy Sledge cover -- haven't heard this in quite some time.

it's a Gay Double-Play! from Midler to Streisand -- Babs does her forgotten "Kiss Me In The Rain"

Rare that I BOS an LDD, but Elvis' "If I Can Dream" is still a superb record, rarely heard.

Nicollette Larson's "Let Me Go Love" is one I surely haven't heard since 1980.  More of that McDoobs influence so prevalent then.

Little did we know in 1980 how "off the wall" MJ would turn out to be.

This has turned out rather dull overall but BOS2 Chuck Mangione's "Give it All You've Got", a nice pop-jazz instrumental.

WOS the unholy Loggins/McDoobie alliance of "This is It"

BOS3 another underrated Manilow ballad: "When I Wanted You"

Now we're getting somewhere: Rupert Holmes' "Him", Shalamar's "2nd Time Around" and NGDB feat Ms. Ronstadt with -- voila! -- "An American Dream".

'78 the only choice this morning.  BOS Enchantment; VHMs ED&JFC and VH.

BOS2 Andrew Gold "TYFBAF"

BOS3 Lou Rawls' Spinners-y "Lady Love"

BOS4 Ms Ronstadt's stellar Zevon cover.

VHM Stargard's forgotten "Which Way is Up" -- I don't even think Kiss-FM plays this one. They should.

VHM David Gates and his sweet "Goodbye Girl".

It sounds like John Williams' record company said "spice up your Close Encounters theme so the disco version doesn't out-chart you like last time."

uber-uber-uber-LN of all time: Queen.  Ditto Kansas.

BOS5 Bob Welch.

found a station doing '71 -- CKOC.  Seriously, are those gay call letters or what?  C-Cock!

wow, this is one of those weeks with THREE diff versions of "Love Story".

The song of the Puerto Rican Jew: "Oy Vey Como Va"

BOS Lynn Anderson doing Joe South's glorious "Rose Garden"

BOS2 TO & Dawn at their faux-Brill Building peak with "Knock 3 Times" (tho' I still prefer "Candida")

VHM  CCR's "Hey Tonite" -- the 2nd song in this countdiown to reference "Jody"

"butwegonnatakethebeginningofthissong" and do it...easy.

uber-BOS3 the J-5, "Mama's Pearl", the least-heard of their first 6 hits.

thank gawd for this other Canuck station, which tend to go "older" when it's a split week. 4-7pm Pacific makes for nice dinnertime listening.

a very short version of the Tempts' "Take a Look Around" to start. And now the Polish Prince himself, "Every Day of My Life"

even tho' we had a '72 show about a month ago, it's a treat to hear Dennis Coffey's "Taurus" and the Congregation's "Softly Whispering..." one more time.
