'81 Hour 1: we begin with a serious Donna Summer rarity:"Who Do You Think You're Foolin" -- VHM. And BOS1 Champaign's gorgeous "How 'Bout Us" -- retro-soul before the term existed.

WOS1 (of course) LoverSagaBoy, "Turn Me On The Loose"

HAAAAAAAY! It a LURVE thang, baby! or so say the Whispers.  BOS2.  Broooce fades away -- BOS3.

Too Much Time Out Of Mind On My Hands.

Hour 2: sorry, APP - nobody gives you a damn.  VHM JCM.

WOS2 April Wine.

BOS4: Stevie W goes country.

uber-BOS5 the late great Phil Seymour's glorious, Frampton-esque "Precious To Me", a slice of power-pop that deserved better than a #22 peak.

The Money Man holds on; BJ likes you that way, babe. EWF on a ship, Fantasii.

BOS1 Player's underrated, little-heard "This Time I'm In It For Love"  Dolly's at 36 -- I'd've guessed 48D. VHM "2 Doors Down"

BOS2 KC's "Boogie Shoes", which deserved better, chart-wise.  Cheeze for breakfast: Styx's "Fooling Yourself" gets a VHM.

Another VHM Gordon Lightfoot's lovely "The Circle Is Small".

Rubicon -- feat Jerry Martini of the Family Stone. A One Hit Wonder, sounding like Ambrosia.

LeBlanc & Carr are "Falling". Olivia Newton-John Travolta are debuting.

The Trammps' "Disco Inferno" on its 2nd chart go-'round, thanks to SNF.  I used to think James Ellis was singing "... my SPUNK got hot". Which could be, y'know, painful. And speaking of SNF, what a joy to hear the Tavares version of "More Than a Woman" -- they really got screwed, because many Top 40 stations played the BeeGees version from the LP, even tho' this was the single. BOS3.

Hour 2: Andrew Gold predicts the Golden Girls!  B0S4 "Thank You For Being a Friend".

Thank you for shopping at MegaLoMart: Chuck Mangione feels SO good.

BOS5 Lou Rawls' "Lady Love" which has always sounded like a lost Spinners hit to me.

Awwww... Heatwave do a slow dance. Wings debut at #17. But Casey's info is wrong -- this isn't the "hightest debut within the 40" in the history of the show; "Shaft" debuted at #9 in 1971.

'84, Hour 1: instant BOS1 Mr Joel's "The Longest Time".  VHM Berlin's "No More Words" which I'd forgotten had actually made the Top 40.

OMG: the Romantics' forgotten "One in a Million". WOS1 .38 Special.

BOS2 Bonnie Tyler, Holdin' Out. LN: "Red Red Wine" -- must be Manischewitz. But noteworthy: this was the song's first, less-successful chart go-'round. It woukl only reach #34; a re-release in 1988 took it to #1.

Holly Johnson wants to laser-beam me. er, ewww.

Hour 2: Manfred Mann finally does a non-Broooce number. Not that it's good, necessarily.

VHM JCM; WOS2 Yes, of course.

BOS3 KC's "Give it Up"

Powah to da people, raht AWN! BOS1 Plastic Ono Lennon.

eek: Daddy Dewdrop. VHM EJ's "Friends", ditto Chicago's "Free"

BOS2 "Amos Moses"! VHM King Floyd's *other* hit, "Baby Lemme Kiss Ya", UNH!

BOS3 "One Bad Apple". WOS Elvis -- not his finest hour.

Glen C covers Roy O. VHM. Ditto Bobby Sherman's unfairly forgotten "Cried Like a Baby".

Ah loves me a song with fake applause!  TO & Dawn continue their run of soundalike Brill Building hommages. VHM.

wow, Sinatra twice in 2 days: "My Way" as an extra. BOS4 JB's "Soul Powah"!

BOS5 "If", uber-BOS6 Staples -- sha-la-boom-boom-YEAH!

Hour 2: Ree-Ree covers Marvin & Tammi. WOS the Bells' horrid vocal on "Stay Awhile" -- fingernails on a blackboard.

Stevie covers the Fab Four. BOS7 one of the best Beatle covers evah.

Van the Man takes 5, honey. but Alice has 18.

the 5-D's "Love's Lines Angles & Rhymes" is one you NEVER hear. Marilyn McCoo, ah LOVES you! Awful title, tho'.

‎"Sooner or later I'd wait a million temptations to be divided by love".

BOS8 Neil D -- he am who am.

And to quote Dan Ingram: "the song of the Puerto Rican Jew -- 'Oy Vey Como Va' "

BOS9 George -- his "What is Life" is still better than ONJ's.

1987 Hour 1: instant BOS1 Simply Red's delightful "The Right Thing", which deserved better. VHM Kim Wilde giving a Supes song the Hi-NRG treatment.

WOS1 Glass Tiger; WOS2 Lionel Ritchie at the end of his "how many ways can I rip off World Music?" rope with "Se La".

BOS2 Joan Jett in the light of day.

To Be Continued on FB (sorry I'm too lazy to double-post today).

Disco, cheese and weirdness in this first hour. Benny Bell's "Shaving Cream" debuts at #37

BOS Frankie V -- his eyes adored what his nose abhorred.

eek: Bobby Vinton polkas his ass off.

Once again this thread is moved to FB 'cause I don't feel like double-posting...

This week, That '70s Casey visits April 28th 1979:

http://www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/04-28-79.pdf

This is the first time that Casey's syndicator is offering stations the option of airing the 4-hour version of a 1979 show (instead of starting off at #30). Don't know yet if any of the stations we usually listen to (CKRU or Magic 98) will go with the 4-hour version.

and Casey's '80s is from April 26th, 1980:

http://www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/04-26-80.pdf

apparently this is the first time '79 and '80 have aired back-to-back in the same weekend.
